Have you ever noticed...

that you always want a cigar more when you know you can't have one?

For example, If my wife and I are going out with friends on a sat night and it is a situation where I can't smoke, all I can think of is cigars.

If its a random wed night where there is nothing stopping me from smoking, I barely even think about it - I usually end up smoking one anyway, but I won't feel like I'm DYING for one.

Why must the cigar gods be so cruel in this sense??!!

I actually passed by the Cigar store today, WITHOUT stopping. Oh me oh my, what a poor decision that was.

I look forward to getting in the car after work and lighting one up for the 45 minute drive home. Nothing better.

I damn sure needed one sitting in the Social Security Office today for 4 and a half hours just to spend 4 mins to apply for a replacement card. I good cigar would have helped pass the time and I wanted one bad.

I think this holds true with just about anything you enjoy.

I know what you mean though. It's too cold and windy here tonight to sit outside, and I'm sitting here thinking that it would have been really nice to light up the Partagas Black or the AF Claro I've had sitting for a while.

Re: Have you ever noticed...

The cigar is my "carrot." My office is at home, so it's easy to slack off. But somehow, I've managed to mentally condition myself not to indulge in a stick until I've finished writing a minimum page-count for the day.

I keep a 130-ct humi on my desk, open it occasionally for a motivational snort, then continue working. It seems to work! And once I've finished work, the stick is that much tastier!

Re: Have you ever noticed...

I started to say something, but it occured to me that, if I died, & my wife logged on to tell you guys I wouldn't be back, & she decided to read my posts........

Wait a minute! I'd be dead right? She couldn't........

Re: Have you ever noticed...

I hear ya! This is all too true. Last night was a perfect example. The wife wanted me to go to get dessert at some crappy fondue joint with her and her sister and her husband and her sister in-law. Keep in mind my favorite B&M is just a few stores away.(Walking distance here people) So, stupidly I say "Hey, babe I don't like fondue, how about I go to the lounge and smoke a cigar and you guys get me on your way out." Yeah, wrong thing to say. I then got, "Every Friday you would rather go there than hang out with me!" So of course I had to grovel and suck it up to make nice nice, but I do spend all day Sat and Sun with her so what's the big deal about Friday?

Re: Have you ever noticed...

Hey, I've been stuck cigar-less for the past three days because of tonsilitis...in near perfect smoking weather.

70f, light breeze, slightly overcast. Supposed to be pouring the next few days too.

FIgures.

Re: Have you ever noticed...

Yeah, but what's worse is when you have a craving for a particular smoke, think about stopping on the way home to pick one up all afternoon, get there and the dang box is empty. Talk about cigar god cruelty!

Reading this thread makes me want to walk over to the B&M down the street and have a smoke.
