Don't bet on it. Unless smokers unite and fight these bans and help to overturn the ones in place it will just keep getting worse and worse. We need to take a page from the NRA. They know that if they give an inch on any law its only time until they (the politicians) ask for another "small" change. Before you know it you end up with no rights. Time to wake up.

As of January 1st, here in the little australian state of Tasmania a complete ban on indoor smoking went into effect. Now I can't smoke in clubs, pubs, tobacconists, or nursing homes. The old law used to be that you could smoke indoors, as long as the "smoking room" was a seperate room from the rest of the pub/club. That seemed like the ideal solution to me-the people who wanted to smoke could, and those who didn't want to be "Subjected" to the smoke didn't have to be. There wasn't a vote, it just "was" on January 1st.
Interestingly, there's a new political party on the rise in tazzie, a smokers rights party. I'll try to dig up the link to their homepage. Their platform calls for a complete repeal of the smoking ban, lower taxes on tobacco, that sort of thing. Guess who gets my vote?
