Tatuaje Overrun Bundles

I was watching "26 minutes with Pete Johnson" on YouTube and he mentioned that while he does not sell seconds, every company is going to end up with overruns and he said he had his stuff bundled and shipped off to a company. Does anybody know or have any idea who has some of these? I know Holts advertised Pepin bundles once, but Pete made it sound like these were going to have no indication of their origins.

I keep looking for Nicaraguan bundles in the same dimensions(or VERY close, in case they lie to throw you off the scent) that don't list who made them.

Re: Tatuaje Overrun Bundles

After a little bit of research, I think I have cracked the code! New Havana Cigars sells a like of nicaraguan cigars called ELOs. They all correspond to vitolas in the Havana VI line - significant because the size of all of the vitolas is fairly distinct. New Havana also seems to have a very good relationship with DPG and tatuaje.

Observe:

ELO1 - Verocu No. 1 - (6 1/4 x 52)
ELO2 - Aristas (6 1/8 x 52)
ELO3 - Verocu No. 2 (5 1/2 x 54)
ELO4 - Hermosos (5 5/8 x 46)
ELO5 - Angeles (4 5/8 x 42)

ALSO, the copy for the ELO1 and ELO3 is different from the others, suggesting that it may be a special release - corresponding to the verocus, which were in fact a limited release.

Good work! Now hopefully this is so and they don't just use the same molds. Still pricier than I'd like, though

totally agree on the price point. if the petit corona is what i think it is then i could get a normal labeled box for the same price if i looked hard enough.

If you're really lucky - cigarbid's lowest win for the angeles was 97, these bundles are 97.50 - well, you get 25 in the bundle vs 24.

IF these are havana VIs, and if they are overruns and not seconds, then it seems like a pretty good deal to me, but not the steal of the century. The real winner seems to be the ELO 3. Those verocus are so gone.

I'll take my chances spending the extra few dollars knowing I am getting the real cigar and not what are thought to 2nds or overruns.

2 of these guesses are correct

And to clarify, there are NOT 2nds, they are overruns...meaning there is nothing wrong with them. Pete keeps his cigars limited to a very specific number, and so anything that inevitably ends up over that mark goes either here or to his personal horde (much of which is given away I believe, at shows and "Meet Pete" events at local B&Ms, such as the one in Michigan yesterday). The reason they are expensive is that they are prefect...just bandless. They sell quite well to those "in the know," but this whole thing is a big secret.

His comment in the 1st post suggests that perhaps others will be getting these overruns soon...which I had not heard and is interesting.

They are great--smoked one today, as a matter of fact.

Re: Tatuaje Overrun Bundles

Well since we have this sorted out, MODS, could you please close this thread? I think it is a good idea NOT to spread the word to prevent Tatuaje from not providing these to this vendor. You never know.

Thanks!!

Geez, that's a good price. Lucky for you. All of my local B&Ms sell above MSRP on the tats.
