Haven't really heard anything really good about Thompson Cigar...but if anyone has any suggestions of better deals around the price...let me know.

I'm just trying to to fill up my new humidor and get my "taste" for cigars. Everyone who has helped me out, has told me to try samplers....these seem like, to me, probably a couple of the best deals out there...

After all they do to customers, ill never shop there no matter how good their deals are! Unsolicited phone calls, charging you for cigars you never ordered. Too many stories for me

my wife got me the Tailgater Sampler for chirstmas.

Once in a while, Thompson will have a good deal on a decent box of cigars, but as a general rule, they run way too damn high.

I will, from time to time, pull the trigger with Thompson, but it's rare. I have gotten a handfull of annoying solicitations by telephone from Thompson, but that too, is rare.

They have my e-mail, but I do not get e-mail from Thompson. I do receive e-mails weekly from CI, Famous, & Holts. I also receive e-mail solicitations from various other cigar companies, so, I guess I must be the one lucky guy on the entire planet that does not receive (much) spam from Thompson.

Thompson was where I made my first online order from. Got a nice sample there. Never got the phone calls that I have heard about. They have not had anything that got me to pull the trigger again though. Honestly, you might be better off going to your local B&M and picking up a few misc sticks. They could recommend a nice assortment. Plus check out the WTS/WTT section here. They have some nice samples too.

On a side note, my father in law called Thompson and was getting some cigars for himself and a few gifts (luckily to me) and the sales person got him so annoyed he finally told the guy, "Now your gonna need to shut up and listen to exactly what I am asking for or I am going to hang up and take my business elsewhere." Surprisingly, the salesperson shut the hell up and got him what he wanted w/o all the cigar club crap he was trying to push.

Thompsons is not as bad as some retailers out there, at least they will actually send you what you order. I am the proud owner of a Thompson humidor (which has a great seal and works just fine) and 49 out of an original 50 "paso doble" Thompson house brand cigars (which suck really really bad and are sittting out in the garage in a shoebox because I can never throw anything out. )

Holts, JR, Famous, and Cigars International are much better options. Holts has especially great samplers, and sometimes you can get some really premium sticks without shelling out a fortune.

Does anyone know a place that will pricematch easily? Thompson's 5-pack specials right now include the RP OWR Maduro--one of my favorites--which means I can get 20 of those bad boys for just $60...that's $3 for an OWR!! Seems too good to pass up...

...but with all I'm hearing, Thompson's sucks, lol. So do you think anyone would price-match this?

It seems that Thompson has some really great deals...just sucks that all this bad feelings I have been reading! Its like the 3 deals I posted at the beginning....they look, sound and seem like great deals....again I am a newbie around these parts

Find me one veteran to say good things about Thompson. Or save yourself the trouble, because you won't find one.

I'm not always a big "go with the crowd" guy. But in this instance, you should trust what experienced folks here are telling you. Thompson's is toxic in just so many ways.
