Sick Disappointed

I still dont know what i am disappointed at, but i dont like it...lol
Yesterday i smoked my first Partagas Black Label Torpedo. Afterwards I felt like shit, so I was thinking did this thing sit my ass down or what? Actually who knows, I am sick now, i had taken plenty of medication, and i still feel this way today. I refuse to believe that a cigar made me feel that way considering how much i enjoyed it. I dont think it was the Partaga

Re: Disappointed

I doubt that the cigar made you sick. I will tell you that Partagas are among my favorite cigars, but the Partagas Black suck, in my opinion.

Well i know the cigar didnt make me feel like i did today but yesterday i felt nauseous and i wanted throw up...but even tho i feel like shit today i am happy that i am sick with a cold or something, instead of have it be something that i enjoyed so much. I personally enjoyed the black, but if the other ones are better than i am going to have to give them a try

Re: Disappointed

Chances are is wasn't the cigar - although there certainly could've been unrelated germs involved.

But, we certainly do make cause and effect associations like that, don't we?

Re: Disappointed

you probably had a cold and the cigar affected you more than usual at least IMO.

Personally I don't favor Paragas cigars at least NC ones. I absolutely HATE THE PARTAGAS BLACK. Its not even Maduro Its just died They don't even say its maduro you can even ask a rep. If i am wrong and you know for sure correct me but this is what I have been told.

well I think you are correct they dont seem to be maduro, but they were pretty good, but if they are died they i dont want nothing to to do with it, i think you are the third person to bring this to my attn. I like other cigars better than this anyway. Even if its not true, i still haven't seen anyone confirm otherwise, i think i wont be having another one anytime soon.

Re: Disappointed

That's odd because the same thing happened to me with my first Partagas Black back in September. It was the bravo i believe. I felt fine before and during smoking it, but when I finished I passed out for about four hours. The next day I felt like crap, and I was sick for the next week. I haven't had the chance to try another one. I've been kind of worried also that it was the cigar that got me sick

Re: Disappointed

The Partagas Black is a nice smooth smoke. But ,for my taste it is very strong! I get woozy after one. My BM suggested the Spanish Rosada. Much more livable.

Re: Disappointed

Sounds like yesterday you got a classic case of nicotine overdose to me....

Partagas Blacks are strong-ish cigars. Not as strong as some others that you hear about here, but still considered full/strong. I don't tolerate that much nicotine myself, and got quite a buzz off of the pint-sized Party Black Pronto one day when I was puffing away at the last 1/3 too fast. I find them quite smooth and tasty myself.

The wrapper isn't maduro, but something called Medio Tiempo, and they are not dyed. This has been discussed in the past.

Don't be too quick to dismiss the cigars if there's a possible other cause.

As DonWeb said, the mind is a powerful thing, and sometimes, it's a liar. At one point in college, I got sick off of a breakfast of strawberry pancakes, and sausage. It was food poisoning, and among the sickest I've ever felt in my life. Ten, Eleven years later, and I still can't even look at pancakes, despite the fact that it was probably the sausage or fruit that did me in.

Don't let the Partagas be your pancakes!

Re: Disappointed

I have to agree that this particular cigar is a let-down.

Iīve smoked 1 out of the box, which I didnīt enjoy. One after six months in my humi, which I didnīt like and one tonight which has been in my humi for about a year and a half. Conclusion: Still didnīt enjoy it.

I find it far too bland, very little flavour, a lack of complexity, very little smoke and I donīt know, it just seems like an oversized cigarette disguised as a stogie with a very pretty black wrapper.
Too much nicotine and very little flavour to wrap it up in a nutshell.

On a scale of 0-5 Iīd put this stick in the 1.5 rating just because itīs stylish.
It lacks everything else which I need in a cigar to truly enjoy.

I think the closest i will ever get to one will be the small pronto, i think it turned into my pancakes. Just thinkin about makes me sick, i had an Oliva O maduro today, and i think i found my favorite cigar AS OF NOW. I Still Have many to try. Back to the topic though, I think the partagas Black will be on hold for a awhile
