Environment and Situation…….

Your team (The Cardinals) are going to the Super Bowl (Can you believe it?)

Sitting on the Patio…temp ~70 degrees.

A good woman sitting with you who says…”Gosh, that smells nice.”

I’m smoking a Macanudo Barron de Rothschild Café.

Right now…..It’s the best cigar EVER!!!!!

That does sound better than sitting alone, in Minnesota, cheering for the Vikings and smoking a Davi 5000

Like wine, the 8 euro bottle of "house wine" in a Paris bistro often blows away the 94-point rated, $200 California Cab in a run-of-the-mill steak house on the outskirts of Las vegas. The right cigar in the right place usually kills the habano you have been saving in your humidor for 3 years and tastes like rotten oranges and ass.

Re: As a Newb, I just discovered the key to enjoying the best cigar!

I agree that the environment and possibly the company makes a big difference. It seems that many of my most enjoyable cigars were with good friends, in idyllic settings, or after the completion of a tough job.

Two years ago I came home on my next to the last day of my Highway Patrol career. I took off my gun belt, lit up a Padron 2000 and sitting on the trunk of the car thought about what had come and gone. Thirty plus years on the job. I thought about Brother Officers I'd known, a few that had passed and those I still call friends. Also recalled some of the close calls I luckily survived. THAT was one of the most enjoyable cigars I've ever smoked.

Environment is huge. One of my 'best' probably cost $1.25, but it was smoked around a fire pit in fish camp with a dozen good friends, listening to music, drinking beer and talking serious smack. The fish weren't biting, it was cold, it rained for three solid days, the whole campground was a sea of muck and God knows what. It was one of the best times I've had in 15 years.

Re: As a Newb, I just discovered the key to enjoying the best cigar!

Environment is what it's all about. My most enjoyable cigars:

A Cohiba Siglo VI tubo I smoked on the beach in Torremolinos, Spain by myself watching the blood red moon hang over the Mediterranean. Not only was it a great cigar by all standards, but the particular moment made it the best smoke of my life. Then a group of American tourist girls shook their naked breastages at me, and the experience was complete.

A Montecristo Petite Tubo I smoked in Madrid cost me a couple Euro, but I enjoyed it on the street-patio at a pub over a [free] beer having one of the most entertaining conversations of my life with some Scot I came across by accident. I don't even remember what the bugger tasted like, but it was great.

A Montecristo Classic Churchill I smoked on the back porch of a woman's house my best friend and I stayed at in Seattle during our hapless road trip to Vancouver. I was enjoying it with a martini, my best friend and some girl that happened to be there too for whatever reason. We were all a bit drunk and having some awesome conversation; it was just a great time. I hate those damned cigars, but that one goes down as one of the better ones of my life...

I have started to smoke more cigars by myself. I find it very peaceful. Just sitting there by myself enjoying a cigar.

I agree also. My wife has started smoking chocolate tatiana cigars in the garage with me. She said she can't stand cigar smoke but the taste is sweet and she enjoys just chilling out at the end of the day with me.

There are many times that being alone on the deck with a nice stick is very peaceful and relaxing. Sometimes you just need your alone time. And the smoke makes it that much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Then again, a normally mediocre smoke can be rather enjoyable with good friends and a good environment. Sitting on the deck in the summer after a cookout. Those were probably the most enjoyable smokes for me. Don't even remember what sticks I smoked, just that they were really good.

Re: As a Newb, I just discovered the key to enjoying the best cigar!

Laying in bed after the Lovin with Jessica Alba, Watching the Cardinals win when you won a $1,000 bet at 10 to 1, and smoking the now best cigar ever. A Black and Mild. LMFAO.

Just kidding. IMHO The environment is a major part of the experience. F%$k the Black and mild. Give me a good cigar and a good environment with good company and it can be the best cigar ever. I have a few GOFs that I have been waiting for the right moment and situation to smoke.

That is the key to enjoying the best cigar! Good topic.
