Wanna exchange the opinion with other people here over cigar
Dear friend here!
I am from Shanghai, a big population city with job related to cigar. I like the culture behind cigar as well as its relevant information concerning over its industrial, financial, political, taxing aspect and etc. So you would have same interest as me, please feel free to voice your opinion or feel free to send me email at this site. Currently,I have a question wished to know and exchange opinion with you is whether your country exported cigar to another country could be given drawback(refund)? How much it will be given in percentage(I know this question is too offensive and explicit, if you do not wish to answer so leave it aside.) Whether cigar smoking is equally healthy as cigarette smoking? Does any healthy institute verify the facts i.e. cigar smoking is more healthier than cigarette smoking? Looking forward to hearing from yours sooner! Sincerely, K123 ![]() |

Thanks for posting K123. Welcome to the board. I don't know anything about computers, but your typing is showing up in white(mine's in black) and it's kinda hard to read.
Oh, I also moved this topic to the more appropriate board........ |

Hi,
Thanks for your warm welcome! Regarding to drawback, I mean it is a kind of tax paying back system when a manufactory company exported some items oversea, their government will give them some portion of subsidy or several percentage of money as incentive in encouraging exportation and it belongs to a kind of governmental behavior. So normally, they will impose a given amount of tariff then according to the level of exportation and the country of importation and H.S.code etc then when exportation is completed, they would be given tax refund in certain of percentage. Hope my explanation could satisfy you so how about your country,if you do not mind talking about that? Yours sincerely, K123 ![]() |

K123, that was a little difficult to understand. I suggest smoking a cigar and drinking some scotch and the answer may come to you.

Oh, I don't mind you talking about it but we're kinda "simple" folk here! We smoke cigars and talk about THAT!

from what I understand in australia tobacco is very highly taxed (part of anti smoking stragegy)
growing tobacco or manufacturing a quality tobacco product would be very costly. and growing tobacco would probably only be possible in very small regions of the country. and we've had a drought for a few years I'm not sure how much water tobacco crops require

It seems "good" cigar tobacco only grows in a couple countries. I'm sure if there was good tobaccco grown there, the taxing thing would/could be overcome.

k123...it really depends on a country's trade practices and there international policy...I think what you are asking about is a subsidy to offset import tariffs and encourage export. We have a federal program like that here in the USA, but there are guidelines as to what products qualify and to where you can send these product...the USA tobacco industry does enjoy some of these benefits.

they banned flavoured cigarettes because they're supposedly suited to children.
and they banned cigarettes packaged in tins because the warning labels on them are stickers that can be peeled off. it was all approved by the right autorities until the public (in actuality they were activists and anti tobacco lobby groups) tobacco advertising in magazines, television, billboards. I think the only place they can advertise is in stores where tobacco is sold and only at the counter where it's sold. there's hardly a place to smoke anymore either
