Think that's because you're doing it right, Ant'ney. If you just nip the cap, it doesn't disturb the inner tobacco. Take too much off and it chops up the tobacco left behind.

Cigar prep is always a serious question... If it isn't prepared right, it doesn't smoke right... I learned some the hard way but most of my info I picked up from my BOTL here.

I saw that someone said to lick it before you clip or punch. I forgot to mention I always do that as well. It's a good idea to wet the end before clipping.

Hey my friend, no one gets on cases here, but sometimes we do get a bit over enthusiastic. It's all part of the fun, and thats all it is. Just count it up on the bloody colonials silly over helpful attitude, and let it go at that...

Now if you want excitement, go on down to the Political section. That gets a bit weird from time to time.

You can tell it's a good question when you get so many responses. Don't be too quick to take offence, around here you will only find good natured ribbing. Well, mostly.

I still use my .222 magnum shell casing sharpened on the inside edge with a small cone shaped stone. Seems to make a smoke last quite a bit longer than the cut ones.
Lately have been getting a lot of use from a double blade guillotine cutter that I got as a gift (with an awesome flask) from a friend here.

Stick around Barbarian, there are a lot of good guys here worth getting to know.

Gentlemen, no offence taken.....honestly.

I completely understand the banter of the boards and I fully intent to stick around for some time yet (at least as long as my computer holds out).
I have learned more in the past few weeks by reading through the topics posted here than I have from 'Cigar Literature' I've purchased, so if no-one minds, I'll continue my education, with yourselves as my mentors?

Yea... me too. I dated a Scotish lass on and off for about 5 years before I was married. I guess the red hair and freckles got to me. I did draw the line at eating haggis at one of her family events.
