Relighting Technique
o I read about this relighting technique on another forum: First, squeeze the foot of the cigar a little bit while rotating it over your ashtray, this will usually pop out all of the already burned tobacco. Then, when you put the flame to it, exhale through the cigar until you run out of breath. When you can't blow any longer, remove the flame and check the foot to see if it is fully lit. If it's not, take another breath and do it again. The theory is that blowing through the cigar clears out built up gases that usually cause that relit taste. I've tried this and it works great. On Wednesday I smoked an Indian Tabac that I had to relight 3 or 4 times because I was working and had to keep letting it set while I got out of the truck and took care of my appointments. Each time I relit, it tasted nearly as good as it did when I first lit it. I'm thinking of trying it on the first light the next time I get a chance to smoke. Does anyone else here use this technique? Anyone have there own method that really works well? Inquiring minds want to know. Brother Jebadiah Umm...where did that popcorn come from??? |

Re: Relighting Technique
I also read this somewhere and tried with similar results. Might not be just like the first light...but definately a significant change in a relit cigar.

Re: Relighting Technique
Yep, it's called purging. You actually blow through the end until the flame stops making the "pretty colors". You are burning off the tars that built up while you were smoking it. If you don't burn them off (purge) it imparts bad juju into your smoke (ie makes your smoke taste like crap).

Re: Relighting Technique
Also try blowing out after every 6 puffs or so. A fellow gorilla posted that somewhere I believe, keeps ur cigars flavor rather than the gases inside the stick during your smoke.
