Cupido was a brand that was born during the Boom of the 1990s, then died a couple years ago. The blends were purchased by Cuban Crafters and they've been repackaged by them as the La Carolina brand. Many who knew Cupido say they're not the same. But I say they're pretty dog-gone close.
Anyway, Cupido had a distinctive band, a purple heart with Cupid, and the word Cupido on it. It was a Nicaraguan puro, if I remember correctly, which debuted around 1996. They were small, having only a Churchill, belicoso and a smaller size, like a Toro. They never made a robusto or corona size. A couple years later they expanded and added two more lines, a Criollo wrapped line, and a Negro line. It seemed to me that they never overextended themselves, three smaller lines only, each with five or less sizes, IF memory serves. They were all very earthy with deep flavor. They lasted ten years with a devoted following, but as most boutique brands, they were a bit on the expensive side. ![]() ![]()

ok...when they get here. Kinda feel like I should go find a few La Carolinas now for comparison.
But the couple of Cupidos I smoked were very good to me. They had "that taste" I look for. I will post something.
