This is a valid point and I've heard similiar horrible stories. With the core group we've got here, I'm confident this isn't something we're gonna need to worry about.

Break, break

Looks like a few of us are going to run down some contacts and addresses. Sweet! Once we get those we'll begin to secure a time period to start putting these together.

There is no rush on this...if we're gonna do it (looks like we are) then I'm gonna want to do this right the first time.

Well I just emailed my buddy in Iraq.. I'll let you guys know what he has to say when he gets back to me.

I just remembered I have a friend from ROTC that is a pilot that flies cargo planes. I'll hit him up when I get home to see what he thinks. He flies things to the Middle East several times a month so maybe I can get them to him and he can give them to people who he knows smokes...

Just throwin ideas out.

Nobody asked for my address. I was joking.

You know, as if I wanted people to send me cigars. A joke.

I did not ask anybody to send me any cigars. StantheTaxMan asked me for my opinion and advice on who to send cigars to.

I offered my opinion and advice on it, specifically stating that cigars should go to troops in grim situations at small outposts. Here in Kuwait I am not in a great deal of danger and as you can see in the photos I posted, can afford pretty much whatever cigars I want from stateside. What I got for it in return from you was being called a liar down on the political discussion forum.

I enclosed a couple of pictures in the thread in the political forum of some rooftop views of the Kuwait Naval Base.

You can see them here:

Anyways do they let you off base? I know back in 2000 when my unit was at Al Saleem they were allowed to go downtown. And I know the guys in Qatar and UAE can go off base as well....

If so Im sure you can score yourself some cubans

Red always that friendly?

I can score some Cubans right here on the Kuwait Naval Base, actually. Tiny little place about 20 kilometers down the road from Camp Arifjan.

KNB is a Kuwaiti military installation with a small American enclave, Camp Patriot, inside. Our "haji shops" are not on "American" soil, so they can sell Cubans in ways they cannot inside Arifjan or Buerhing or Ali Al Saleem. I've had Partagas, Punch and Romeo y Julietas. All tubos because the dealer doesn't have a humidor.

We can leave base, but it is usually for official business only. I have to go to Arifjan twice a month do re-dispatch our civilian vehicles (NTVs). Other than going on an MWR trip, driving into town to hang out and do some shopping is not a casual option for us. Kuwait is becoming a place less safe than you might remember it.

My battery commander just got back from Qatar a few days ago. He was at CENTCOM for a briefing. Said he had to stay in stacked up conexs. He did drink beer though, which is something.

Thanks Ace. What a guy. You all want my APO-AE address, sure I'll send it to you. Then you can send me all you donated cigars and see how far they get.

All I am saying is that shit happen. So, go ahead and send them along. See if they get to the troops. All I am doing is trying to validate here.
If there is something wrong with that then so be it.
As far as Red drinking? I don't think so. Kiss my ass Ace and then have a drink.

Your right, friend like me you don't need.

auf wiedersehen, goodbye.

Red,

If I had posted my address and solicited free cigars, I could see where you would be suspicious of me.

Fact is I did no such thing. Yet you accused me of being a poser who wasn't who I claim to be down in the political forum.

By what thought process did you arrive at the idea I was soliciting free cigars?

The pictures are there if you want to see them. Tomorrow I could have somebody take a picture of me standing next to my battalion's big red sign in front of headquarters. Maybe I could hold tomorrow's copy of Stars and Stripes as if I was a victim of a kidnapping and posing for a ransom note picture?

You know, your right Ace. You don't see the things I am doing over here to help the troops. But, trust me. The things I do make sure the things you and all the troops do goes alot easier. So, please don't talk about my rep. It goes a long way. After all, I have been doing this for the last 12 years. While some of you are away fighting for our country. Guess what I am here helping your one's left behind learn to cope with your being gone. For that, I do and have done alot. So, have another drink young man. auf wiedersehen, goodbye

Im talking about the cause going on in this thread. I wont even begin to talk about the things I've done for the troops besides actually serving, being deployed once and going to be deployed again sometime in the near future.
I just want this thread to stay on track to actually get something accomplished for some brave men and women who deserve it rather than it turning into some pointless internet forum flame contest.
