Humidor upgrade

Upgraded my humidor here in Kuwait thanks to a departing soldier who didn't need his at home.

A cedar type of the kind offerred by Thompsons. The captain was a regular customer of theirs. I paid him pretty much what he paid for it, but he kicked in about a dozen various cigars he wasn't taking home, such as some Matacans, A.F. Curly Head Deluxe, A.F. Maduros, a few Romeo y Julietas and one or two Nat Shermans. I figure that wasn't too bad a deal, basically getting the cigars for free.

Outer view. This humidor is more aromatic than the airtight plastic case I was using. Looks better too. After reading Kevin's Corner, I learned how to check a humidor's seal. This one has a good seal.

A few tools of the trade. A tubo of the H. Upmann Coronas Major Cuban I'm able to get here. Some friends and I are going to try to talk the dealer into bringing some larger, Churchill-length cigars in for sale. I'm hoping for some Romeo y Julieta Churchill tubos. We're going to try and convince him that Americans will naturally buy whatever is the biggest, so it makes good economic sense to offer some big ones.

My Xikar cutter. I'm not too sure I like these models. The wood panels have come off this one twice from riding around in my pocket. After the first time I used crazy glue, but a few weeks later they came off again.

The Beretta is for those who might try to help themselves to the cigars without permission...

Nice pics! Sounds like you made a good score.

I love my Xicar cutter...but it's all metal, no wood on the outsides like that one. I know they do a good job of honoring their warranty though, so I imagine you can send it back with an explanation and they'll make it right for you.

The jar was a deal from JRcigars.com. I ordered a box of the H. Upmann Vintage Cameroons and they threw in the jar. It's real glass, not acrylic. It would be great for a desktop.

Good pick up on the humi and nice pics.
Thanks for posting and sharing them!

+1 on what CRider said about the Xikar warranty.

Nice score; good to see that you are able to take care of your smokes out there.

I also noticed the obligatory bottle of Febreeze; that stuff is great for removing the stink from the flak vest.

That's my roomie's. I prefer lemon scented Lysol disinfectant in a spray bottle.

Luckily, we don't have to wear the body armor down here very often.

Just smoked my last Hoyo de Monterrey Executive (the far left one in the picure) on my smoke break.

That's another good thing about cigars. Our smoke breaks take an hour.

A good cheap smoke I bought a bundle of for about $50.

I recently obtained a box of those Vintage Cameroon smokes. Gonna sit on them for a while, but quite tasty for sure!! If you need any supplies, don't hesitate to ask. Some places don't ship to FPO/APO.

The folks I generally order from are pretty fast at getting what I need. About the only cigar accessory I don't have is a draw poker of some sort. I suppose I could look for a fine finishing nail lying around...

Nah, I'll pick one up during my upcoming leave vacation.

A friend of mine tells me the H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon is mentioned by name in the movie Rounders. The one with Matt Damon as a poker hustler.

I vaguely recall this, but I wasn't smoking cigars the last time I watched that movie. One of the ladies is looking at another poker player and accessing his "high roller status". She notes his shoes, clothing, watch, and the fact he is smoking an H. Upmann VC, which she apparently can recognize easily.

Just a bit of trivia...
