second half issues

i frequently run into a problem that others of you might also face. i get through the first ash, onto the second ash. after the second ash, i'm around halfway through the smoke, more or less. at some point soon after, the smoke tunnels and gets really bitter, then goes out. when i relight, it gets nasty.

so... how do i prevent the tunneling/cigar going out...
and how do you prevent the buildup of bitterness?

what is that bitterness??? organic resins? or a function of the wrapper not burning?

Yup and I'm gonna let our resident in-house Cigar Genius provide that.

Meanwhile, sometimes humidity or a poor lighting can cause tunneling problems. Others it's just the nature of a particular cigar blend.

The best you can do is to pace your smoking...the "general rule of thumb" is 1-2 puffs every 60-90 secs. This will also help prevent that bitterness (in addition to purging).

Also, when you light the cigar do so very carefully and intentionally. You want to toast the foot evenly before drawing on the cigar.

Hope this helps...

There is a thread somewhere.... were Ram (remember him!)... did this long disertation on how to purge a smoke....

Redman posted after it saying something like...... "Just blow OUT of the smoke for about 10 seconds.... and it will be fresh and not bitter..."... something simple like that....

I about pissed my pants laughing so hard....

But it really is that simple. It blows out the residue that has built up on the leaf..... makes a smoke like new....

Just don't wet your'sefl.... hahahah

It's amazing how a simple purge can turn a cigar around isn't it?
