How long to wait?
How long do you normally wait after buying a cigar before smoking it? I normally let them sit in the humi for a few days before firing them up. Is this too soon?

I usually wait at least one week before smoking cigars that were shipped to me.
Sometime I will smoke a cigar before one week if I really want to try it .

If it comes from the local B&M I'll smoke it whenever the mood strikes me.
With cigars recieved in the mail (orders, bombings, etc) I'll usually let 'em rest for about a week or so. Sometimes though it can't be helped - I'll smoke one much sooner. |

I will usually let it sit for about 30 days before smoking it. Same goes with five packs or bundle smokes. If I buy a box, I try to sit on it for at least year or so, but I always cheat and try a few along the way.

Me: impatient! I usually smoke one or two of a 5 pack and let the rest sit for a few weeks.

About a week for me, but that's because everything I order is pretty moist for my taste so I let them sit in the humi to level out the humidity a little bit. For some smokes a week is good, others though seem to take longer to drop down to a good humidity level for me.

If I get a 10 pk or a box, I might try one that day (like the Graycliff 1666). If it is a single that I got from a B&M, I'll usually sit on it for 3 months or so.

I try to wait at least a week...if I can be that patient. Some smokes though, the first one meets the torch right off the truck.

Depends. If I like the "fresh" taste I'll smoke it soon. For B&M that means that day or within a few weeks. For shipped I let them rest for at least a week to a few weeks depending on how wet, dry or the temp outside.
If I bought them for aging, then 3 months to 5 years or more. Typically I'll buy some for smoking immediately and save some for aging. |
