New guy in town

I just joined the site and have visited pretty often for the past month. I've read a lot of the forum discussions and cigar reviews to get my feet wet but felt I should get involved to become a more avid cigar smoker. Please feel free to pass on any advice or knowledge about cigars that would be important for any smoker to know.

I started smoking after my son was born in July, thanks to a friend buying me a Romeo Y Julieta Limited Edicion which was great. I instantly became intrigued with what the world of great cigars had to offer. It also helps that my wife and father-in-law are Dominican. They seem to be known for great cigars and gave me a new bond with the in-laws.

I have read a great number of the cigar reviews and have tried 4 or 5 of the cigars listed and have yet to be disappointed by any of them. I have ventured out more to get a better variety and not all have been appealing. For instance I have learned I'm not a huge fan of some flavored cigars. On the other hand, I found that Punch may be my favorite so far and I've sampled 3 different cigars in the lineup. Each getting better and better. Please feel free to pass on good cigars from your experiences as well.
I look forward to the info!

Welcome to the board Tater! +2 to what Stan said...get samplers and 5packs from the good sites to try out a good variety. It'll help you see where your tastes lie, what trips yer trigger and what doesn't. That's the best why to find out what you like without buying boxes of stuff you may or may not like.

Welcome to the board Tater! Samplers are a great way to discover your taste preferance. As others have said, your tastes will change over time which is one of the great things about the exploring cigars.

Glad you crossed over from reading the boards to participating. You know doubt have discovered this is a very diverse group; both in experience and tastes. There is absolutely no such thing as a stupid question.

Remember, the board is only as good as it's participants so stop by often and chime in frequently.

Again, welcome!
