Storage question

I just bought my second box of ERDM maduros. They come wrapped in a tissue paper. I was wondering if I should store them in the humi with the paper or take them out of the paper? Stupid question, but I got two different answers when I called customer service to a couple of Major cigar distributors. I stored the last box unwrapped and as they have aged, they just got better and better. At this point I went ahead and unwrapped the new box for storage, but I'd like to hear recommendations from the real experts rather than some gals working customer service for Thompson and J & R.

Re: Storage question

I think this along the same lines as cellophane on/off. About the only reason I can think of not to unwrap them would be to keep them from getting banged up. I don't know if the tissue paper would really protect them that much but I always leave it and the cellophane on.

I store them as they come.

Re: Storage question

For long term storage, I'd take the tissue off. The tissue may absorb any oil exuded by the cigar and prevent or limit the formation of plume. I doubt the plume, or lack of, would affect the flavor of the cigar, but it's nice to see a cigar with plume. As with a cello wrapper, what you do with the tissue is all about aesthetics and personal preference.

I too always unwrap my smokes before entering the humidor, I have some of the ERDM's myself and I took the tissue off. Just my choice and
