That's right, it's 1/4" weather stripping with a peal off sticky back. The brand is Frost King and they sell it at Home Depot for about $6.00 per 17 ft roll. Just cut, peel and stick. It's forgiving enough to actually use one lomg peice and just radius the corners.

So far the cost breakdown is:

1 roll weather stripping $5.95
4 door magnets 4 X $1.29
Unwanted Kitchen Cabinet Free
plus 8.25% sales tax puts me at $12.02 so far

The Cedar will run me about $120.00 ( I might blow this off and see how it runs without it) and the humidity beads about $50.00. For a decent looking humidor with 6.25 square ft. of space It's worth it to me. I really think I could get away with no lining but it will be nice. Add a hydrometer and a thermometer and I'm just over $200.00 fully decked out.
Thanks for the info, guys.

Just keep in mind that Spanish Cedar:

1. holds humidity better than any other wood except mahogany;
2. prevents beetles;
3. adds aroma to your cigars.

Although your initial investment into the humidor is more, when you have hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of cigars in it, it is a good investment down the road.

Then again, if you are using it to store boxes only, then you may not need Spanish Cedar. IMHO.

Looks cool BigD. Maybe we should start a DIY section on the new site.

+1

Between humidors, Coolidors, Man rooms, Patios, decks...all cigar-centric....A DIY sections would be a logical jump and a great place to ask those silly questions, show off your ideas, plans and effort...

+2 I think this would be an interesting way to show off our skills and ideas at the same time.

What a great project! I'm always amazed at the ingenuity that others show on their own projects - it always makes the final product more fun IMO when you built it yourself! Pretty creative!!

Very nice!

Take this for what it's worth because I eat, sleep, and breathe numbers, but that's 5.35 cubic feet.

One suggestion: you might want to get a fan for a computer case and then get a 12 volt AC/DC power adapter from any electronics store so that you have good circulation in there. I have one in one of my humidors that's about 3 cubic feet and it works great. I added an outlet timer so it's only running for 30 minutes every other hour.

You are indeed correct. I was using the outside dementions and rounding up to the nearest 1/4" when I initally started the project while shopping for cedar liner. I have a fan put aside for circulation and thought about a timer too. What is it that you use for the timer?

I ordered the hunidity beads, hydrometer/thermo, and 6 cedar racks today. I found a source for cedar liner real cheap but lost the link so I'll spend the night hunting down that source again.

The timer I have is the kind you can get for lamps, like this one:

Is this operational?

Ready or not, I guess you will need it when your CBid order arrives next week.

I have the Humidity beads and the hydro all ready as well as the six new shelves. I'll stop by the store tonight for some distilled water and I'm off and running. I'll order the cedar this weekend too. It should be close by the time my cigars get here.
