Humidor project underway.

Well the first phase of the humidor project is complete. Here are a few shots of the door seal and the door magnets. The interior dimentions are 29"x29"x11" or so. 6.25 Cubic ft.

Next phase is to line it with cedar and build the shelves and boxes. I hope to order the Spanish Cedar lining this week as well as the Heartfelt humidity beads. This is cool and I'm having fun. To Be Continued...............

I'll store boxes in the lower half and have some open racks in the upper portion. I don't have a solid plan as yet but it will come together. I saw some racks for sale on one of the cigar sites that would work well. It may have been the Heartfelt site, I have to check my bookmarks. I'm saving one of the large lower cabinets in case this gets out of hand. That way they will match and stack I may have to move into the Q-Bana.

Nice work.

I don't know much about material, is the white stuff what people weather strip? What form (tube, can) does it come in? And about how much a unit?

I am trying to add some good seal to my two Treasure Dome humidors before winter. Thanks.

Nice Big D!

I have seen pictures of people that have used the cabinet maid (HD, Lowes) shelving upside down (so there is a lip) for shelving in basement cigar rooms/humidors.

That's right, it's 1/4" weather stripping with a peal off sticky back. The brand is Frost King and they sell it at Home Depot for about $6.00 per 17 ft roll. Just cut, peel and stick. It's forgiving enough to actually use one lomg peice and just radius the corners.

So far the cost breakdown is:

1 roll weather stripping $5.95
4 door magnets 4 X $1.29
Unwanted Kitchen Cabinet Free
plus 8.25% sales tax puts me at $12.02 so far

The Cedar will run me about $120.00 ( I might blow this off and see how it runs without it) and the humidity beads about $50.00. For a decent looking humidor with 6.25 cubic ft. of space It's worth it to me. I really think I could get away with no lining but it will be nice. Add a hydrometer and a thermometer and I'm just over $200.00 fully decked out.

If you buy the cedar shelving from heartfelt and use their beads you should be ok I think.
