I Adore Don Lino Africas

I adore Don Lino Africas.

This past weekend, my cigar line-up included Cuesta-Rey Centro Fino Sungrowns (still having wrapper failure problems with these), Ghurka Symphony (not bad, B/B+), H. Upmann Vintage Cameroons (good solid B+) and......Don Lino Africa. And I'd have to say, out of that line-up, the Don Lino Africas simply blew the others away.

I was attracted to the Don Lino Africas right off the bat. They have a certain romantic appeal, you can envison yourself smoking one around the campfire on the Serengeti Plain after a hard day of Kudu hunting. And on top of that, they are SUPERB, rich tasting, clean, even burning, perfect draw. I just adore these things.

CI has a special on the Don Linos, ten cigars for $19.99.

ARE YOU FRICKIN' KIDDING ME?

NINETEEN NINETY NINE FOR TEN OF THESE CIGARS?

Gotta be the best two dollar cigar on the planet.

(NOTE: Five of those are the little "shorties". Still superb.)

I like the old version of this brand. It was released in 2003. It was sold out/off the market soon afterward. It was made primarily with African tobaccos, including filler and Cameroon wrapper, I forgot the origin of the binder.

The current version, which was released in 2004, only contains filler tobacco from Africa, its binder is from the Dominican Republic, and a Nicaraguan-grown Habana-seed wrapper.

The original Don Lino Africa blend was released soon after Montecristo introduced its Montecristo Afirque in 2003.

Haven't tried the new blend yet, but the old Don Lino Africa Duma (5x50)
was an awesome smoke.
I burnt through a box very fast, thinking I could always buy more, without saving any for the future.

So sad, but thats a really great price !

I just received a five pack of these in the mail today (thanks Cbid.) I'll let 'em sit for a few weeks and give 'em a try. They look pretty good!!

This is a very good smoke, I had one a few weeks ago and loved it too! Very earthy and big volume of smoke. Definately gonna keep a few of these around when I have room!

I just picked up a La Aurora sampler that has one in there. I'm looking forward to trying it.
