on cigars now that SCHIP is just around the corner? The ONLY thing that kept it from being enacted till now is a Presidential veto, which you'll no longer have. I don't want this to become political, or I'll have to move it. I put it here so more of you would see it. Oh, and, you HAVE joined CRA, right......RIGHT?!
In answering my own question, I told wifey about this and she asked me if I was gonna. So I got THAT going for me!
So how 'bout it. Gonna buy more than usual over the next couple months?

You beat me to it Stan. Although one thing is not clear to me, I thought there was a resolution (max on cigars) on how much the tax would be.

Anyone know the answer to the tax question?

Well if its a per stick thing, I am only buying super premiums then. Makes no sense to buy a cheap $2 cigar and pay 100% tax on it.

I'd love to, but stocking up won't be an option really. My cigar consumption will likely go way, way down

I will never be an overnight thing. I am sure we will know the increase well before the bill is passed. However, I am still very scared to see this thing jump to well over $1 per stick.

If it does jump, you bet your ass I am buying a huge cooler, making a coolerdor, and stockpiling some super premiums from cBid.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the tobacco tax get added to appease the republicans?

I thought the first incarnation wanted to use tax payer dollars and not a tobacco tax.

It's true that it may not be an overnight thing. If anyone thinks people are overbidding on both cigarbid and cigarauctioneer sites, wait until this becomes law.

It's pathetic that tobacco tax is such a slammed-dunk, shooting-fish-in-the-barrel type of easy target for every level of government. If anyone votes against tobacco tax, the person is view and treat as an enemy.

Now, to answering Stan's question, I may buy a little here and a little there if I see a good deal. Already have a good inventory. Pretty safe to say will last until the next presidential election, or maybe two if I slowdown.
