Thats some BS right there. Most retailers don't care who they piss off. That's bad business these days.

I started out with Thompson.

The irony was, I saw its ad in either "the US News and World Report" or "BusinessWeek" while took my father to St. Vincents Outpatient Cancer Center for chemo. The deal in the ad was, 10 national brand cigars, or 20 house brand cigars, and a 50-count humidor for $29.99, plus shipping.

Then, I joined its 250 Club. Problem was, as I was told, when I order cigars online, it took two days before it was download and processed. After I learned of this, I started phon in my orders. When I reached my 250 cigars quota, I called and asked for the 10% coupon, I was told I have yet to meet the quota. That's because every now and then, when I place an order, Thompson issued a new account number.

Then, I learned of JR and Holts, among others, and I never look back.

And then, I learned of cigarbid.com and cigarauctioneer.com. The rest is history. I do check JR and Holt's from time to time for their weekly specials, and JR's auctions.

Granted, Thompson does have good selection and decent prices on humidors, but they are easily top by cigarbid.com if you are patient enough.

Another thing about Thompson is, in its samplers, only brand names are mentioned, never the sizes.

To me, Thompson is like the first girlfriend, it will always have its place in my heart, even though I don't talk about it.

The only drawback I see is lack of high-end cigars. Cigar.com does carry them, but is a bit limited. However, I don't think any of us by '26 & '64s on a weekly basis, but I could be wrong.

I don't shop anywhere else. MAYBE Famous-Smoke from time to time, but thats just because the store is local to me as well.
CI/cbid is awesome. The daily specials have caused me financial duress. the only other place I have really good luck with is TNT cigar. they have some really good prices on their closeout list.
