Total Noob: Quest to fill up new humidor

Hello C-R world.
I quit smoking at age 14. Now I'm starting cigars at age 37. I'm a newbie to cigars that was introduced to me by my golfing buddies. I only smoke when I'm golfing or barbequeing in the backyard.
I got a little new year fund so I made some purchases in the past few days to fill up my new humidor being purchased.
As a newbie, I prefer mild and flavorful cigars.

1 - 150ct humidor.
1 - 8oz 70rh crystal gel beads
10 - CAO Black Bengals
10 - Romeo y Julieta Viejo 'E'
5 - Natural by Drew Estate Mixed Elements
5 - 5 Vegas Gold Robusto
5 - CAO Gold Maduro Robusto
25 - Duque Torpedo

Please feel free to comment on each of my purchases.

I Love the CAO black and 5 Vegas gold. I also think you should try Perdomo Reserve Champagne

Got a nice variety. The 5 Vegas Gold is my "go to" smoke on the golf course (played 50 rounds last year). God knows how many I smoked.

I recently decided to switch to the Perdomo ESV '91. I just LOVE this cigar. DON'T hesitate to buy the 2nds. They are just as good, especially since you will be tossing them on the green when you read your putts.

Also recommend that you smoke slightly larger ring gauge cigars (50+). Only say that because you play golf. They stay lit better since you could go a couple minutes between puffs on the course.

Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen. The Perdomo seems to be well liked here and well reviewed too. I might try a 5pk of the Champagne series if the price seems reasonable.

Nice pick-ups!

I'm a self-proclaimed Romeo y Julieta whore, but sadly haven't had the Viejo line yet. I've read mixed reviews.....if they're anything like the rest of the RyJ series they're a keeper!

Also a fan of the CAO Gold, very tasy mild-med smoke.

My only real recommendation would be to be sure to you seperate the Drew Estates from you're stash (tupperwares make for a cheap temp humi) as soon as practical as they are infused and may impact the flavors of your other cigars.

All I can say is great move going right away to the 150ct. I made the mistake of moving from a 20ct to a 50ct to a 150ct.

Welcome and "Good Show". Hard to beat the CAO Black or Gold as a golf smoke. Great flavor and not too heavy so even occasional smokers like 'em. RyJs are also a fav of mine - love the Vintage or Reserva lines - a classic smoke.

Now you need to go to Cigar Bid (What the hell guys, he's gonna find it anyway. Might as well sign his death warrant now and get it over with).

If you are a noob, make sure you set up your humidor properly.

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/html ... sp#humidor

Additionally, many schools of thought out there, but personally, I love beads for maintaining humidity:

http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/cate ... asp?cat=11

They have a calculator to ensure you order the right amount. Oreder 2x what they say since it will only be a matter of time before you are buying another humidor or setting up a coolerdor.

Good recommendations by the botl's!

I wondered who was gonna let the genie outta the bottle... www.cigarbid.com can be your best friend...and your wallet's worst enemy. It's like crack dusted with a lil heroin for sweetness. Basically, it's ebay for cigar lovers. I warn you though...once you take that first step, you truly are doomed and can never go back!

That's about as good a description of cBid as I have ever seen.

Recently, I have score ALL of these 5 Packs at $11 or less...
Gurkha Special Edition Black Puro Toro ($9)
Gurkha Doble Maduro Toro ($9)
Gurkha Fuerte Toro ($11)
Gurkha Signature '101' Maduro Toro ($9)
Gurkha Symphony ($9)
5 Vegas 'A' Apocalypse ($11)
5 Vegas Gold Torpedo ($7)
Camacho 1962 Torpedo ($11)

And the list goes on.... Use this site to see the historical prices on the cigars you want. So you know what to bid....

http://c-h-i-m-p.com/index.php

Just make sure you go back as far as possible in date (I think its Jan 1st 07). Its got about a 45 day lag, but it will give you the MIN & AVG price. I usually split the difference and make that my high bid (so if the min price was $11, and the avg $15, i'll max bid $13).

Fair Warning: There is no "window" shopping with Cigar bid.

It is the fastest way down the slope so strap on your boots, lean into the wind and enjoy the ride!!
