Official HM I Hate Winter Thread
It's now mid-winter and I've had it. All natural ice cubes....outside. What a great idea. Give that man a Nobel.
The only wrappers that'll hold up are the heavier ones - maddies, SG, criollo or thicker Havana. I tried a Cojonu 03 the other day and the wrapper just flaked off. Yeah, I shoulda known better. It's a waste smoking most good stuff anyway since the air is so dry you lose all the flavor. I need to move. OK, I feel better now. |

I almost had to close my windows last night. It went down to 63 degrees.
I'll have to get a long sleeve shirt out today, and maybe wear socks.

Yeah, they're saying 3-6" of snow for us tonight into tomorrow. I don't mind it as much since I've got places to smoke...and getting snow instead of ice will be a nice change at least

Woke up with eight new inches on my car (on top of the foot or so we got yesterday. More expected tomorrow. Plus its the light powdery stuff so I can't even go snowshoeing in it.
Pretty though... |

Thank God the CI Superstore/Lounge is 5 minutes from my house. It's a home away from the cold.
I am just fighting to keep my stogies in good shape. 66-68* in the house. I have been feeding my humi beads water weekly to keep the humidity around 70%. You open your humidor for more than 1 minute, the dry air just SUCKS out all the humidity.

In addition to interminable hours of darkness, sack-shriveling cold, back-breaking shoveling and plowing, cranky cars, balky snowblowers, crabby people and cigars that fall apart, there is one other thing that makes the endless hours of winter that drag from the end of deer hunting season in November to the Opening Day of open-water fishing season in May so intolerable.
Rhino-hide. Now, I've never been one to annoint myself with malodorous ointments and scented oils. I cannot stand the odor of anything other than Irish Spring and unscented pit-rub upon my body. But if I do not apply some manner of moisturizer to my hide, it will literally turn red and crack open all winter long. So I must blow load after load of "moisturizing cream" upon my flesh, and walk around smelling like a cheap prostitute, or suffer the slings and arrows of "rhino-hide". And I don't like it one bit.

Two days ago we had a vicious ice storm in north jersey. Had 3 inches thick on our road and driveway. And the friggin salt trucks didn't come around until 11am.
Yeah, I'm getting sick of this crappola.

My first assignment at my new job is in Mexico. Cinci area is supposed to go into another ice age or something. Winter ain't so bad anymore!!
