I'm new to cigar smoking and had a few buzz. Only felt sick a few times, mainly on an empty stomach. I do like the buzz.

It's not as if I wanted to dramatize the situation or demonstrate my frilly and delicate constitution, it was a very strong (and unpleasant) physical reaction to the nicotine, and it was the result of a cigar I didn't even consider particularly strong.

By any chance, do you (or your tough lady friends) consume other forms of tobacco/nicotine?
Grandpa smoking Upmanns or Macanudo? Not a big deal, but macanudo? Many of his generation only knew habanos, so perhaps an Upmann from havana....now I feel old when people's grandpas grew up on macanudos .

I was really drunk about a month ago, had way to much to drink. I smoked a Padron Maduro then had a fair bit of Copenhagen - I was green, was not fun at all....

The first time I had Copenhagen I almost fell over - I couldnt see straight or walk in a straight line (no alcohol).

Thank you. When I read the responses to threads like this, I think the same thing.

Macanudos were introduced almost 40 years ago, or two generations. That means quite a few younger adults do have grandpas who came of age in a post-embargo era, my friend.

Just to set the record straight, being a man -- or I should say being a good man -- has nothing to do with smoking cigars; moreover, it has nothing to do with being able to handle strong nicotine or being able to drink scotch or being able to fix a faulty transmission. I'll feel better after a cigar . . .

I smoked a Camacho Corojo Scorpion with a nearly empty stomach and felt sick. A couple teaspoons of sugar and a big glass of water quickly put me right, but it still happens. Sometimes there seems to be no reason at all. I smoked a San Cristobal belicoso after a pasta dinner and couldn't finish it. Not a particularly hardcore cigar and I had food in me, but I got pretty sick off of it. Now, the strange thing about me is I've never gotten a buzz off of nicotine. Never has a cigar or any other medium of nicotine delivery made me feel any different unless it made me sick. I either feel perfectly normal, or perfectly like sh*t. Dunno, it's weird.
Seems to affect me the same way: I don't think I've ever had much of a "buzz" from smoking a cigar (and I'm now going on 20 years of smoking), but I have had butterflies and a cold sweat a handful of times. There doesn't seemt o be much rhyme or reason to it, either: I've smoked 3-4 powerhouses in a night and had no problem; but once every couple of years, a single stick will send me reeling.

Re: Does anyone else find it a little funny...

While I've never actually become sick from a cigar, smoking something particularly full-bodied on an empty stomach tends to leave me with a minor headache.
