I agree that *sometimes* the most specific descriptor is not needed - some people don't like very "woodsy" cigars so for that person, whether it's pine or cedar or maple is irrelevant.
But I think it matters sometimes! For example, there are numerous DPG-made cigars which are primarily or completely nicaraguan with a corojo wrapper and plenty of ligero. There are differences, but many people feel they are subtle. How can you convey that to the cigar community without very specific terms to describe them? |
