Any X Pipe Smokers Here ???

Just wondering if any of you smoked a pipe before moving over to cigars ?

I smoked pipes, and still do, but I find a good cigar much more relaxing and more enjoyable for some strange reason.

One thing I have found about cigars is that you don't really know what to expect from a certain brand until you smoke it. Other than Cuban or Non Cuban you can't distinquish one from the other like you can do with pipe tobacco. If someone told me about a English, Virginia, Balkin or Burley pipe tobacco I would know what taste and flavor to expect from each one. Can anyone brake down cigars into certain groups and know within reason what he will get from each one ?

Re: Any X Pipe Smokers Here ???

there are plenty of pipe smokers here, we even have our own little area of the forum.... it's called the.... "PIPE FORUM".

ps - i agree, to some extent, about differences in cigars not being that dramatic (except most cuban cigars)...

Re: Any X Pipe Smokers Here ???

I started smoking and buying pipes back in November, just got my second pipe. Enjoying it very much so far. But gotta disagree about cigars, there are tons of different flavors, subtle shades of differences.

Re: Any X Pipe Smokers Here ???

I was an ex-pipe smoker and only smoked cigars on and off for the last fifteen years with the last year or so totally on as my weekly cigar turned into a 2 cigars per week affair, followed by an every other day cigar affair, followed closely by becoming a daily cigar smoker which became a one or two cigars a day (and sometimes three) habot...and now I've gone back to smoking pipes again too, but only about two or three times a week or so to break up the cigars...currently have three stuffed humidors, and about five pipes with two more pipes on the way in...this never ends, does it?

Yeah Bill - cigars break down in to two categories - like sex - really good and better. That's it - the only two categories - I try to select the better - but really good is more common
