Lol, as the forum cycles through posts, the older ones get pushed further and further back into the archives. I stumbled upon this post while searching for 'Quintero', so, rather than making a new thread (essentially a new folder that people put their documents in), I just wrote BUMP! lol. Posting in an older thread that probably is just collecting dust will push it back into the 'new posts' area of how the forum cycles. Sometimes forum members will see the word bump and take special care to check out what's going on in the thread. Sometimes, though, threads just get dug back from the grave, or sometimes people don't respond, but I can assure you, someone will probably eventually get back to ya! The guys here have really been great to me, at least =D

Oh hey Josh, did you get your shipment in yet? Have you tried any yet? I got mine 2 days ago but only had time for a little LVH corona last night and wanted to check out one of my Pepin Garcia Blue's tonite.

Yes! I got mine yesterday. These things are like super box pressed. I almost had one right off the truck but i had a RP Decade instead. Maybe i'll have one this weekend.

Re: Quintero (Honduras)

OK i just had my first one from the box and i have to say, i'm impressed! Keep in mind these have only been in my humi for a couple days. Price aside, this is a VERY GOOD stick. When you throw in the price ($1.50 a stick), it's just icing on the cake. No burn issues, smoke smelled and tasted great (kinda sweet flavor), nice ash. Definitely recommend!

Eyesack, let me know what you think of yours.

btw, i bought a box of the corona naturals, not the maduro version.

This is a great thread. I've been wanting to buy a box but for some reason haven't pulled the trigger. Are the Maddies or natural better? Anyone know?

Re: Quintero (Honduras)

Hey Guys! My puffin' buddy came over tonight and we cracked open 2 of 'em. He's not as quite a full-on hobbyist, but one of 2 people I hang out with that appreciate a good cigar. Right out of the cello, he sniffed the foot and said "Wow, I can tell that I think I'm really going to like this". Josh, you were right on about the aroma! These gars smell great, have sleek, oily wrappers, and burn great! The taste is phenomenal in my opinion, not only because of the price, but they're such a mellow, yet full-flavored cigar, that I didn't know if I should smoke it or eat it! The taste was pretty sweet, I thought it tasted like creamy toasted peanut-butter, with a hint of cedar towards the finish. Mine also have only been in my humi for a few days.
Arnie, I bought the natural robustos; for some reason I've been on this robusto kick lately. I honestly don't know if I would enjoy a maduro-wrapped Quintero as much, as it is already pretty sweet, and I enjoyed the smooth, mellow flavor. I think a maduro might be a bit dark for me, personally, but I'm not a big maduro fan to begin with. If you pull the trigger, maybe try the maduro's and let us know how it goes? Or get a 5-er of each if possible to see what you like more! Either way, I may have found a new fav.

Haha, yeah the box-press is pretty impressive! And these burn the straightest out of any boxies I've had yet!

Good deal. They burned great for me too, impressive for a $1.50 smoke. And i guess i meant to say that the box press makes these cigars somewhat flat (in shape). I have no issue with this, just makes the cigar look different. And its actually easier to chomp on, and keep in my teeth.

I was just thinking the other day, that this cigar has literally had me rethinking paying more than $3 for a cigar. I mean, this cigar cost me $30 for a box of 20, and was as good as, or better than some $10 sticks i've had. As many years as i've been smoking, i guess i still havent realized that just because a cigar is expensive, that it will actually burn well, and i will enjoy it. Then again, this particular cigar may be the exception. Who knows.

I am with ya! I am always on the hunt for great value, bang-for-the-buck wines and cigars. Nothing worse than paying $10 + for a doglog and then having to think to yourself afterwards, "wow, that sucked. my $2.60 Padrons blow that pos away."

Re: Quintero (Honduras)

Hehehe I like the box-press because it sits still on my ash tray instead of rolling around and possibly falling on the cherry >=|. lol! I too am a biter, especially with the smaller ring gauges. If I see this deal again, I'm SO gonna get the coronas! Also yeah man, I've been value-hunting as of late and have been really impressed with A: some of the awesome prices on CI and CigarMonster and B: the awesome sticks that these deals have yielded! hehe! Now i just gotta enter into that CI humidor contest so I can expand my 'library'. hehe!

I picked up one of these yesterday not knowing what it was (other than pretty reasonable). Glad to know I have an enjoyable experience ahead of me.
