Re: Walk away

Trimming the end off doesn't help.

Moisture changes significantly when you smoke it, and we all know how humidity affects the flavor. Ever notice that you can squeeze a cigar pretty hard when it's new and it will be somewhat spongy? But squeeze it after you've smoke for a few minutes and your'e probably going to pop the wrapper. Relative humidity changes with temperature (hence the word relative), and you have just raised the temperature much higher than 70 degrees, then cooled it back down without any regulation of rH. And don't even think of putting that stink bomb back in your humi.

Then there's the matter of all the tar that has built up inside the cigar. After a while that tar cools and hardens. Oils evaporate or are absorbed by the leaves, which changes the texture and flavor of the tar when it is burned later.

I've never been too obsessed with nubbing every cigar. If you gotta put it out, then thats the end of that one. I relate it to Kraft macaroni and cheese. As soon as it cools off it will never be creamy again, and will never taste as good as a fresh batch. But, I've met people who prefer leftover mac n cheese, so to each their own.

I suggest keeping a tin of cigarillo's around to smoke when you're short on time.
