Yes, Connies are hit 'n miss, for sure.

However, would I rather smoke a $2 Connie on the golf course knowing I might get a plug or 2 and have to toss it, than smoke a PAM or an Opus or something I like to enjoy in the back yard, knowing at any time I might drop it, or something, but couldn't really enjoy it anyway.

I used to go through a bundle of #9 and #73 per month, but I've slowed that down to other selections. At any given time, you'll fine ~2 bundles of each in my cabinet, though. JR has had the best, most consistent inventory and price for these.

As with most bundles, they benefit from a month or two at rest.

Only thing bad about bundles is, they are the left over of the tobacco. Usally the good rollers don't roll bundles unless the plant is slow. They don't keep years of stock for bundles like the good stuff, so the taste may be different. With that said i haven't had any complaints with the Consuegra's in my store.

I'm partial to the #70 maduro and the Breva #10. I'm not certain what others would recommend, but here's a Connie conversion chart.ibble:

These sound great, has anyone tried the Belicoso #489? It has an Oscuro wrapper?

well, from all this it looks like I am going to have to try a consuegra.

I just joined this thread and I am already making a list of cigars to get! Thank you everyone!

I got a bundle of the churchill #15 today and had one this afternoon. Though I could tell there was a raw tobacco taste (though I am a newbie cigar smoker I recognize too fresh tobacco from pipe smoking) it was still very much worth the $1 or so I paid. I had another after work and was going to have another before bed, until I realized that at that rate I would be smoking about a bundle a week.
My original plan was one big cigar a day and a couple of minis. I don't know if that plan will work if cigars continue to taste as good as they do

The way it works with me is that I will smoke an awful lot for a while, then not so many, then a ton, then none for a week or more, etc. Yet I have a neighbor who smokes three a day, at exactly the same times each day. This guy even knows where he is going for vacation NEXT YEAR!!

So - you know yourself. Don't think that if you are smoking a lot right now that it will go on that way forever. Until you get in much deeper, like, you know, you get a couple of humidors, then a few coolers, then a couple of cabinets, then devote an entire room in your house to cigars. At that point there is no going back, cause even if you have pneumonia, you will go down to merely look at your lovelies, and before long you will be puffing and coughing, all at the same time. But it sounds like your disease has not progressed nearly that far. Yet.

By all means, make all the plans you wish. But never fool yourself that your smoking plan will be carried out, or your budget will be followed. These cigar plans, like battle plans, do not survive contact with the enemy. Or CigarBid. Unless you are an anal retentive butthead like my neighbor.

Never had one, but I guess I need to try by the sounds of it. Next time I am at JR's Statesville I swing in and try. Shoot maybe they'll have one to smoke before I decide to buy.

I am still in the habit of buying five'rs because I really like a variety to choose from when I want to smoke. Also out of quite a few I have bought there have only been a few I would have really wanted a box of (Edge, America's, and Triple Maduro's).

I am finding this out, planning on buying some cigars today that will be over my budget. Oh well. Somebody's got to smoke 'em, might as well be me
