Don't worry if you haven't heard of this cigar before, it's a brand the owner of my local B&M (Tinderbox) put together to celebrate his son's soon to be wedding. The cigar is named after his son and fiancee. I couldn't think of a much nicer wedding gift.
When I went into the shop and I asked what was new, these were proudly displayed but I'm pretty jaded when it comes to any "house" brand in that I've rarely had a good one. However, at around $3.50 a stick, I thought I would give it a try since the owner has good taste. Wow, I was very pleasantly surprised. Wrapper: Sun Grown Honduras Binder: Honduras Filler: Honduras Size: Toro? All the tobacco is grown in the Jamastran Valley, just outside Danli, Honduras, so it's a Honduras puro. Dennis tried a bunch of blends and settled on this one, and I must say he did good. The construction is good, the wrapper has some small veins and some bumps but it is a beautiful brown in color. The cap cut smoothly and the draw was perfect. Now, I'm not very good in picking out and describing tastes but this one tasted good. Spicy and leathery with a hint of sweetness now and then. It produced a nice volume of smoke and had an even burn. The ash was grey-white in color and hung on for about 1 1/2 inches. It's not a complex cigar in that the flavors remained pretty much constant. In the few that I have smoked, only one had a bit of bitterness near the end that faded pretty quick. It was a medium to full-bodied cigar. This is a good value smoke that should get even better with some humidor time. While it can't compete with some of the higher priced more complex cigars that I love, it's a nice change of pace when I want a good consistent tasting cigar. I'll be buying more. If anyone would like to try these let me know, I'll send some your way. |

Sounds interesting. Are they available to the general public? Or just in-store sales?

Alan, well from your pic is sure as heck looks well constructed. When you get some more perhaps a trade is in order? Would be interested in trying one or two...

I'm not sure how many were made, but it's a lot. My understanding is that while they were named after his son and fiancee, they are going to be sold well after the wedding and be a store staple. In a few weeks, he is having a cigar tasting event and I think these cigars will be discounted by 10% per box. I'll be happy to pick up a box or two and spread the wealth around.
