You won't believe my good fortune today! I went to the bank @ lunch and withdrew some cash. Immediately upon returning to work I found out that one of my colleagues was leaving for a Cuban vacation tomorrow. I asked him if he would be so kind as to bring me a box of cigars and he said "sure thing"! I whipped out the $150 I had just withdrawn and gave it to him with instructions to get a box of whatever kind of Montecristos that amount will buy. Damm, why didn't I take out more money! Now, how to pay the phone bill? LOL! Just kidding! As per a previous post, I now have 10 torturous day of waiting while I decide if I should tell the wifeypooh!
What do think it will buy? #4's? Definitely a great day. ![]() |

Tell him to only buy in the gov't tobacco stores, no matter what the price on the street is!

Wish u the best bud. Hope you get the real thing. Hope he doesn't get busted. I have a friend that got caught and they confiscated his smokes, made him miss his cruise ship. He had to fly home. Boy was he pissed.

Re: Great news today!
No problem bringing in the Cuban Cigars. What about paying the government its taxes on the cigars?

Re: Great news today!
Like what's been stated above, the problems of finding the real deal, getting a good price AND not having your arse handed to you in taxes upon the return trip almost makes it easier to just buy from a reasonably priced, bonafide internet vendor.
With me being in the states the taxes aren't an issue, but the embargo certainly is. Either way, i'd take that $150 and find a reliable internet vendor and save your friend the headache of having to try and spot the real deal (especially if he isn't very knowledgeable in that area). That being said, there are some great internet resources out there on spotting fakes. http://www.smokemag.com/0398/feature.htm http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/fake_or...ban_cigars.htm There's a couple, just for starters. ![]()

Re: Great news today!
Up here we're allowed to bring back 50 cigars after 48 hrs out of the country duty free per person of legal smoking age.
The only way to get them siezed (from what I hear) is to get caught by Cuban Customs as you leave with out a Official receipt from the Gov't store. Stormin for $150 you should easily beable to get a box of monte #4. They should go for $100US and no doubt in stock as they are very popular. |
