AF Don Carlos

hello all. i think i'm going to try the af don carlos line at fridays happy hour. never had any don carlos before and was wondering if i could get some input from anyone reguarding this line. i have seen from reviews that they are one of the better lines out there. if you have any recommendations in this line i'd like to hear them. as of right now im leaning towards the presidente, no.4, and the belicoso. the belicoso sounds interesting with the black cherry notes. the only thing holding me back from the belicoso is that i was told it is quite peppery. i know half the fun of it all is to try them all, and i probably will. just not on friday lol. any info would be much apreciated and have a great weekend.

Re: AF Don Carlos

The Belicoso is nice, as are most Fuentes you will try. I myself prefer the Hemingway line for flavor...give one of those a try before you go through all the DonCarlos'.

Re: AF Don Carlos

I like the Don Carlos line. I prefer Don Carlos over Hemingway. The Belicosos are awesome. I picked up a box not too long ago. Most of the sticks had some plume forming (yes, I'm sure it's not mold). I enjoy all of the vitolas I've had from the Don Carlos line, though I've not had them all.

i would try the hemi's if my supplier had the selection he does in the don carlos. he has the whole line of don carlos, as far as the hemi's, i know he has 1 classic left and a box of short story's. not sure if he has anymore i'm sure he must. gonna have to check while i'm there.

I knew that there was a reason I liked this guy -

The DC #4 is my favorite NC. I use to be a hemi signature guy - not once I got familiar with the #4

'Nuther vote for the Hemingways.

I had a DC Presidente last weekend, and I found it to be a bit stronger and more peppery than the rest of the Fuente line and not as much to my liking as the 858's, Chateaus or others. Funny, 'cause the Anejo Shark 77 knocked my socks off, as in: yum-yum-roll-your-eyes-back-in-your-head-like-a-great-white good. Also liked the Opus.

I dunnow. Maybe I just wasn't in the right frame of mind, but the Hemmi's are an absolute go-to favorite, if only I could afford to smoke 'em more often. Smooth, nutty, creamy and a joy to look at.

Just my two cents, YMMV.

Re: AF Don Carlos

Can't go wrong with either in my book, as far as the DC I agree the #4 is hard to beat.

The Presidente is the best out of the Don Carlos line bar none. I would steer away from the No.2's and Belicosos because they haven't been tasting right for about year and a half now for some reason. The No.4 is one of the most underated sticks in the line and is not hard to find with some age on it, also the No.3's ( Which I had one today) is not all that bad either, but I still believe the No.4's have a little better flavor.

Enjoy,

ATL
