Exhaling through the nose?

Okay, I have to blow my cover and ask one of those newb questions. If you're not inhaling the smoke into your lungs, how do you exhale it from your nose? It sounds like playing a didgeridoo to me.

PS. Hey John, how about your contest being the first person to use the word didgeridoo in a post?

i do it all the time. it's hard to explain how to do so. take a mental picture of the back of your nose. now close off your mouth and blow out your nose. see if that helps. might burn at first, depending on what you're smoking but man ... you can really taste a cigar this way.

I take about half a breath, draw in a mouthful of smoke, and then force most of the half a breath out my nose, then the rest out the mouth. I would suggest you try this with a mild cigar first.

The best way is to make like you are swallowing the smoke; that motion forces your tongue to push the smoke back and then you just exhale through your nose. It takes a couple tries, but when it was explained to me this way, I had it in about 10 minutes.

Sometimes it hurts - depends on the cigar, but oh boy do you get some good flavors out of it.

You must stand on your head for it to work properly. Once the smoke settles in the roof of your mouth then you can exhale from your lungs through your nose. Let the smoke in your mouth mix with the exhaled CO2. Try it with a Camacho Coyolar for the full effect.

I just started doing the the exhale through my nose about a month ago and it does allow the detecting of more of the cigar flavors.

Lots of great flavors are found that way.

My deal is that I have always had a problem with recurring sinus infections. I have found that if I exhale through my nose more than a couple of times a cigar I will get another infection which lasts a week or so, requires an antibiotic and stops me from smoking stogies...so I avoid this at all costs. So I try to limit it even though it makes the smokes much more enjoyable.

Also it depends a lot on the cigar's strength.

I can't get used to the pain, maybe I am too sensative. It doesn't sop me from trying though.

I'm pretty vulnerable to burn in my nose, as well. What I do is take a draw, then blow maybe half the smoke out of my mouth and replace with air. Then, blow this "cut" mixture of air/smoke out my nose. It takes a little (few minutes) of practice, but no burn, and I still get the flavors from the smoke.

I tried this last night with that Camacho and think I got the hang of it. It is pretty intense and I'm sure the more I do it the more I'll be able to detect. Last night was pretty intense!!!
