La Flor Dominicana Factory Press

Okay, so I was at the local B&M (what the hell does B&M stand for anyways?) yesterday and I was perusing their stock looking for something to pick up for our dinner engagement with some friends when I came across a hefty sized box of these. Now, I'm abit perplexed because they were twice the price of any other LFD cigar, including the double ligero chisel which seems to be in HOT demand as of late. Has anyone had this cigar yet, and if so how does it stack up against its cousins? I just couldn't bring myself to pay $15 for a cigar I've never heard of or heard word of its goodness. I ended up walking out of there with one mildly priced Gurkha Estate Vintage Shaggy Churchill...

Ive tried the Factory Pressed II, and it was a very good cigar! I also have an original Factory Pressed that someone gifted me. Its been aged a year and I plan on letting it sit a little longer.

B&M stands for Brick and Mortar. It is a business term used to describe retailers which have a physical presence that customers can utilize. Usually this is a shop with inventory. The opposite would be a "click and mortar" which is an internet business with only a warehouse and "back office." Of course with a C&M customers can't access the physical stock.

I've had the chisel and I loved it. I like it for the flavor but the shape is a little weird. I tried punching it with a hole on the top. It focused all the smoke on the roof of my mouth and bounced it down to the top of my tongue. I didn't like the roof redirecting much so I guillotined the end and started drawing it straight out the flattened back.

Another time I tried punching it on top and on bottom. This was recommended to me by some guys in a shop in Minnesota, not the workers but some guys playing poker in the back. This was an odd feel too. It sent the smoke up to the roof and down on my teeth and under the tongue. It was really strong under the tongue too. I don't think I'll do the punching anymore on either side but I do like the cigar a lot. For me, I like to guillotine the back off and bite down on its flattened chisel edges. It does feel like it'll slip out but it doesn't. Just my $.02 or :leph:

I've had one chisel and loved it, although I was warned it would knock me on my ass and it really didn't do too well in that department, but was flavorful none the less. The cigar in question here though, was the Factory Press, abit different from the double ligero line, and I've also been told that the ligero is abit more complex in flavor than the double ligero.

Lots of talk about the Factory Press coming across my radar lately.... my B&M has a full case of the Factory Press II, so I think I'm going to have to cough up the 12 bucks and give one a shot.......

The FP II is a very good smoke. I think that the FP I was a bit better, but hey, that's just me.

Ben, was it the Factory Press I or II? The first one came out in '05 the second came out in '06. The first is getting harder to find but still out there. They are more of a finesse' stick than the double legiro which is probably a good thing for this monster. I have yet to finish one in under 2.5 hours. I'd rate it a medium strength, full flavor smoke. The II is pretty much the exact same blend and by all means same flavor/strength profile. Definetly worth $10.00 but not $15.00 in either case. Of course this is all just MHO.

Research- Colin, have you tried pinching off the end of a chisel instead of cutting? The LFD rep showed me this little trick, and some BOTL at a recent herf said this was the way it was designed to be "clipped", without the use of a cutter. It works great!
And by the way, the regular Chisel has nothing strength wise compared to the maduro version.ibble:

The Chiselito is also a very good cigar. If you are short on time and can't smoke the Chisel, I'd highly recommend this one.

It works better if the cigar is a little dry. I tried pinching it and I still like to clip the end off instead.

I have had a bunch of the II's and have 2 I's just waiting for the right moment. They are amazing cigars and well worth 13-15.

The Factory Press was released in a special box that shows how they are box pressed at the factory, of coures giving it its name. I have only had one, it was the Factory Press I when they first came out. Was a very good smoke and seemed med body but by the time I went to get up it had knocked me on my A$$! I ate a good meal before this one and it still killed me, have never goten so close to throwing up after a cigar. Maybe after a couple years they are mellowed out some? Either way it is a one of a kind cigar and worth a try.

The FP is an excellent cigar.

On the cutting the chisel end... have you tried a notch cutter? That is what I use and I find it works very well.

I had a similar experience. It did not make me nauseous, but I was weaving down the hallway. My wife asked me just how much rum I had to drink while I was smoking.

Maybe some people are allergic to something in the cigar. I smoked my very first one a few weeks ago after I graduated with my first masters and I had no problems. I have only been smooking for a little more than a year now and I am lucky to smoke once a week.
