Holder most definitely But I force myself to put it down occasionally to keep it from getting hot and harsh. But pretty much I think it is just awkward to just keep putting it down to pick it back up. Waste of energy IMO!

All holder here. There are only two real reasons to put a cigar down:

1. To let it die naturally, never snub
2. To light up another

All personal preference and part of the ritual. I really enjoy smoking a nice cigar and just don't see the need to thrash it about in my ashtray. I'd rather let it die out and complete the experience as it started.

Although I have to admit, some do get chucked out the car window or over the side of the boat.

Holder, I thought I went 50/50 but when I thought about it I allways hold the cigar even if I'm grilling in the back yard, playing dominoes or drinking a beer I'll put the beer down and hold on to my cigar.
