I have decided that in general, Cameroon just isn't my cup o' tea. What d'ya'll think of Cameroon wrapped cigars?

I've enjoyed the Oliva cameroons. Don't know if I've had any others.
Given the amount of tobacco in a cigar, does anyone else really notice that the wrapper plays that vital of a role in overall effect? |

Definitely. I think it was an interview with Nick Perdomo where he said that there were several cigars in the Perdomo Reserve line that were basically the exact same blend with just different wrappers. Speaking of which, the Perdomo Reserve La Tradicion Cameroon is the only cameroon that I would consider buying any more of...the cameroon they use seems to be less "camerooney" than the others. Now, does that mean it is good cameroon or bad cameroon? I Dunno.

Oliva's cameroons are great, Don Tomas cameroon collection is surprsingly good, and the H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon is really good. They're out there, just gotta find 'em. It does suck that the wrappers are so delicate, gotta be careful cutting and handling them.

Truthfully I used to think I hated cammies. Then I realized alot of the cigars I loved were cammie wrapped. I also realized CAO cameroons and Perdomo reserve cammies are two of the cigars I cannot take. CAO cameroon I painfully smoked due to being a gift by a friend who was with me for the duration. The Perdomo Has been one of two cigars I tossed after an inch. Possibly I will try the perdomo again...but the CAO...blah.

Some of my favorite cigars are Cameroon: Fuente Hemingway series, Fuente Don Carlos, Partagas (Dominican) IT Cameroon Legend... As the wrapper is very rich and full of oily flavor, it must have a filler and binder combo that accent this - it must be balanced. If the blend is too light or too overpowering, it is easy to see that the Cameroon taste can be "fouled" if you will. I've found that it is not an easy wrapper to match with a finished blend for many manufacturers.

Cameroon is great!! Although I do find that at times I just can't get into this. I will always be a Maduro guy - just can't get enough of 'em.

Here are some I like Fuente hemingway, Don Carlos, also made by Fuente is the Cuesta Rey Stanfords Cameroon Reserve (this stick only comes out once a year, let it set at 6 months and mmmmmm very good), H. Upmann Vintage Cameroon.
Ok if you don't think you like Cameroon cigars do me one favor. Try this one cigar and if you don't like it I will be shocked! Camacho Select Robusto. I love this cigar! |
