Great post, the whole series seems very good (I'm new but getting caught up!).
One thing though, Criollo is, to my knowledge, not a Corojo hybrid, at least not a newer one (ie Habana 2000, Corojo 97 or 99). I believe it is a different strain of tobacco, also with roots in Cuba, that was used mostly for filler tobacco. It too has been hybridized (Criollo 9 Speaking of Habana 2000, it's no longer in use in Cuba, but a few cigars outside of there still use it. Gurkha's Master Reserve and Torano 1959 gold, if I'm not mistaken, use Habana 2000 wrapper. It's a hybrid of Corojo and a Cuban cigarette tobacco, Bell 61-10. It is NOT a hybrid of Corojo and Conneticiut seed, as has been reported before. It's fallen out of favor because of fermentation problems and percieved burn issues, though the few H2k cigars I've had burned reasonably well. |

Quote:
Criollo was developed in 1941 and is a strain of Habanesis, which was Cuba's first standardized black tobacco seed developed in 1907. Through selective breeding, Criollo spawned Corojo in the mid-1940s. |

I obviously have not done enough in my life when it comes to knowing all of the facts concerning my beloved cigars. All I know is that I love them and I can hardly wait until I can grow them in my own backyard. I wonder if they will come in as robustos or churchills? The guy who sold me the cigar seeds said that they will come in as long as I don't over water them,,,,,,how much is too much? lol
