I don't pick a cigar by what mood I'm in. I'm a pretty layed back and easy going guy to start with, try not to let anything bother me. But I have found that if I am in a bad mood the cigar just takes that mood and changes it. So its all good, at least for that hour or so!

When I have the shits, I find it very hard to relax (I clean the house when I have the shits. I will wash the floors, do the dishes, or fold clothes) so it often buggers up a smoke for me. Infact, I have the shits now. I was just on the phone to my parents, and they told me something I didnt want to hear. I kinda knew about it, but didnt want to know. If you know what I mean. So, THat Olivia Classic can wait till my beer is finished, and I calm down a little, sit outside, and enjoy it. I have thrown cigars onto the street before, so, no, I do not enjoy them when grumpy *and breath*

Research has shown that people with Clinical Depression are less able to recognize and discriminate tastes as compared to normal people. Since clinical depression is just one end of an continuum that includes "feeling down" or "having the blues" it should also be the case the "normal" depression/sadness will hinder our ability to detect tastes in a cigar. The reason this occurs is that mood is actually related to chemicals in our brain (e.g., depression is related to low levels of serotonin) and these same chemicals are also used in the gustatory (taste) areas of our brain.

Sorry, couldn't resist throwing in the scientific perspective I definitely have noticed that when I am really feeling down a cigar does not seem to taste as good.

I usually just grab one of my everyday smokes. I know that if I'm preoccupied then I won't even pay attention to the taste, burn, etc. I save my good ones for days that I'm in a better mood.

That being said, can't recall a time where an Illusione didn't totally rock!

Think I'll do the same from now on.

Actually, I find that a good cigar will enhance my mood, relax me and, if I'm feeling a bit down, make me feel a lot better. If I'm feeling "blue" I'll pick a cigar I know is good since I don't want to get disappointed. There is nothing worst that being down and then getting a bad stick... yuck.

I tend to do this also. If I am pissed off and have a lot of time, I'll usually smoke a very good cigar, as that helps get me out of the foul mood. If I don't have a lot of time to enjoy a good relaxed smoke, then I choose an everyday type stick.
