Cohiba XV Questions

Do you consider the Cohiba XV to be "full-flavored" or "strong"? I have never considered myself a fan of full-flavored or strong, but these are one of my favorites.

I ordered a box of La Aroma De Cuba and I thought they were too strong for my taste.

What else should I try if I like Cohiba XV? My pocketbook is a little big strapped right now, so I will be buying one stick at a time. I can't pay too much per stick so reasonably priced suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Dwain

I'd say they are medium to full-bodied. If you're just branching into this arena for full-flavored cigars, you might start with Padron 3000. They're very inexpensive and are a great cigar. RP Edge Maduro would work well too.

Try a Camacho Select, its a med body cigar but with some great flavors! And try either the Oliva Serie G, Serie O or Special S. All those are med to full. The G and O are very well priced cigars. Another good cigar med to full would be the Cuestra Rey Sun Grown, a great cigar!

I would go with a Rocky Patel Ventage 1992, a Sancho Panza Double Maduro or a Padron 3000.

Great recommendations. You can also try Saint Luis Rey Serie G Maduro, Oliva Serie G or O Maduro, Perdomo Lot 23 Maduro, La Flor Dominicana Chisel (Double Ligero) La Flor Coronado (kicks ass and takes names) and Perdomo Habano Maduro.

Also, RP makes an Edge Sumatra which is strong.

It's been a few years since I've smoked anything Cohiba that wasn't from south of Florida, so I can't recommend anything with comparable taste.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money discovering what you like, try getting one each of a particular brand's least expensive sticks; if you like one, try a more expensive one in the same brand. If you don't like one, go to the next brand. It's fun to experiment to find what you like...

The XV's I've had recently were closer to a Macanudo Robust than some of the powerhouses that have been recommended here. If La Aroma were too strong La Flor Dominicana Chisel and La Flor Coronado would be way too strong.

I am in agreement here, the XV is at most medium, I think you would enjoy it as long as the price is right
