My 2¢

Lars Tetens cigars are not for everyone. I smoked them when I was younger and when I opened my shop, I decided to carry them.

I happen to enjoy them very much. Yes they can be very expensive at the higher end, but for people that do enjoy them, they are worth it.

The Happy Cuba line is a fantastic smoke.

They definitely have a distinct style that can be a "love em or hate em" situation.

Just to clear the misconception - Lars Tetens are not "flavored". They are conditioned while the tobacco is being aged which gives them an aroma. It is generally not detectable on the palate.

Again, it's a "love em or hate em" situation.
Count me for "love em"

PS - Please don't judge by the packaging either. They are an eclectic group of people and it comes through in the packaging, but I wouldn't hold that against the cigar.

My wife thought the Air Catchers were good because she liked little flavored smokes. I then got her some CAO tubes and she loves the Moontrance and won't even touch the Lars anymore. I told her it is because of the special ingredient in the Lars that you have to smoke them left handed.:teacher:
One of the shops around here carries them and has a separate humidor for all the baggy cigars. I would open the door to get her some Air Catchers and gag. At least the Acids are more reasonably priced.

BTW, have you heard his band? I am not quite sure but I think they may be tone deaf. Actually a few songs aren't bad but his singing is a little off.

I used to know his former International shipping president, and she hooked me up with a bunch of the cigars... I was not a fan. I thought the cigars were definitely sub par. And my wife, who does enjoy some of the flavored cigars, did not like them either.

Having known her back when I did, I can agree with some of the questionable business practices. When her and her boyfriend finally quit his company they referred to it as "finally leaving the circus". I've always kind of wondered the legitimacy of a company that is run by a bunch of teen/early 20s punk girls too...

I have never understood why anyone would want to infuse, flavor or whatever anything that tastes as good as fine aged tobacco.

But that just me......like they used to say "Different strokes for DIFFERENT folks"

^^^well said. Can't understand it myself, but then I can't understand why someone would choose Budweiser or Miller over any of the thousands of far-superior craft brews out there (preparing to be flamed...)

Here, here! I even live in the land of big B and can take it or leave it. I usually leave it unless I have no choice and want a "beer".

I'm the same way with guys that pick a blended "scotch" over a single malt.

I just don't get it.

If you think Lars Tetens web site is crazy, you should meet the man!

(yes, that's me with him)
He is more than a little wacky. But a real nice man.
As far as his cigars, I find them painful. But he has a following A real devoted following. They are scented with some (in his words) rare oils that have something to do with the American Indians. I dont know, smells like a NYC subway to me on a hot day.

according to his site the art of tobacco rolling and flavoring was destroyed "in 1492" and he spent years re-developing the true art of cigar making like the Indians used to.

I've never heard anything like that (but never have studied up on it either I suppose).

I still would like to give his cigars a try, if only to say that they aren't my cup of tea.

Time to do some research on where to pick them up!

(edit - I just noticed their packaging and have seen them around at a few local shops... I'll be picking a couple up next time I'm in)

That's called marketing ad copy, or in this case drivel. I'm sure some brilliant, witty marketer was paid handsomely to scratch his or her head for days to come up with that electrifying revelation. Makes me want to gag rather than run out and by his product but it seems to have snagged your interest since you're now actively seeking out his cigars, so perhaps the writer can claim some success.
