Any hobby is a good hobby. Cigars are lots less expensive than cars, or motorcycles, and usually a lot safer. Get your bride to go smoke one with you and talk. They like to talk! Talk about the boobies of the girls on-stage, or if three pair beats a flush?nsure: Enable her to empower you

Rob, congrats on the new bambino!

I think you have to take all things in consideration--i.e., kids, bills etc.. My kids are both grown and we just have 2 little ones--Cat & Dog.

My wife actually is very good when it comes to cigar purchases--now more then before because she partakes in the consumption---SO GET HER HOOKED!!! Recently I have not been able to purchase what I normally do because she is just starting back to work after a car accident. Had to put Gars on hold.

My wife gave me permission (we agreed) to purchase a new set of golf irons and she also got the same amount of money to get what she wanted. 50/50 I always say. If I work side work and make say $500 bucks I'll come home and give her $200 to spend on something she would enjoy. I will purchase my smokes and there you go--all is bliss.

The biggest advantage that I have, is that smoking cigars caused me to pay more attention to my wife. I would go out on the porch to smoke a cigar and she would join me. She has my attention for as long as the cigar burns. It was the best thing that ever happened to our marriage. I am calm and content and more open to hearing her thoughts and issues. Before, I never sat long enough to pay attention to her unless it was on the computer or in front of the tv. When I watch tv or use the computer it is easy to ignore her. If I am sitting outside enjoying a cigar, she has much more of my attention. Even though she doesn't smoke cigars, she enjoys the time we spend while I smoke. We watch far less tv and have grown much closer. In some ways it has saved our marriage.

I would suggest trying to include your wife in your cigar habit.
Now that's good stuff.

Can't argue with that!

Another good point someone made was that a hobby is a hobby whatever it is its gonna cost you. I realized this last month when I was camping at Coya Costa state park. One of the rangers brought out his telescope one night and let everyone look through it and showed us a bunch of constelations and stars. It was really cool. Well, his telescope cost around $15,000! quite a bit to put into a hobby. We were all suprosed at how much he put into his hobby. But then one of the other guys there was saying that I guess its no different than him buying a $30,000 fishing boat.

Divorce is one solution, LOL!

I've never been married so I'm sorry but I can't offer you any advice. Relationships are about give and take and cigar smoking shouldn't be a deal breaker.

The wife and I have a great agreement, we don't ask questions. We both trust each other to know how much we can spend on our habits or hobbies without putting us in a bind. The only bad thing about our arangement is often times we compete, if she comes home with a $300 purse, I make a purchase or one of my hobbies. Through it all, we manage to keep it to a manageable spending. What also gets us in trouble, is neither one of us are patient, we are planning on for a trip Thanksgiving week, we couldn't find the charger for our digital camera, so we just bought new $350 camera.

I would just tell my wife that I'll stop spending my money on cigars when she stops spending my money on everything else!
