How many fakes have real Cuban tobacco in them?

I have had a lot of fakes in my time but two really stand out...a box of fake RyJ Churchills and a box of madruo wrapped Diplo 2 from Miami (forgive my ignorance there, i cant believe even as newbie i bought a box of "maduro Diplos")

Those Diplos barley smoked going out all of the time and burning uneven. But tastey, very toasty and salty like a fine cuban. Same with the RyJs.

Is it worth it? to sell actual cuban cigars under antoher companys name? WOuldnt they just make there own labels and everything since its all illegal anyway? Is it possible to get Cuban tobacco (scraps probably) out of Cuba in quanities like this? Well just wondering, another thread had a great statment, Smoke it even if its fake. THese were a good reason why

Some of the fake Cubans out there are from Cuba.

They are from tobacco taken from factories by workers and sold on the streets. They are still Cuban tobacco. It is just short filler or scraps. Sometimes these may not taste to bad.

Then there are the fakes that these asshats throw dirt in and anything they can find and roll it up. These are the real bad ones.

Yeah it could be rejects and stuff that they snuck out that would not have met quality standards. Or perhaps cheaper cigars made for sale within cuba itself.

Or maybe I don't know what I am talking about.

Richard is right about some of those fake cubans.
It can even comes from big factories (different leaves, from bolado to seco, ligero to capa) and roll them in there house and sell it in the street of cuba.
of course when it comes to quality of cigar construction, blend and aging,
we can only hope that those fakes are at least worth smoking...

These came from a box that had all the right stamps including the hologram, only problem they were 6 1/2" not 7. Definately tasted cuban, very creamy and nutty.

Re: How many fakes have real Cuban tobacco in them?

I have to admit that they did look similar. I actually have one left. I didn;t tell the whole story. When I went back to buy more, they actually had another box only these were 7 inches. I bought a couple of those which were also quite tasty. So now I have 1 that is 6 1/2 inches, and 2 that are 7 inches. Quite strange. The guy also had a sealed box of cohiba siglo IV. I assumed these to be fakes.

Re: How many fakes have real Cuban tobacco in them?

I have had fake Cohibas that taste far better than the real thing. Construction was also excellent. I suspect that these were real Cuban cigars (sure tasted Cuban) of a less expensive mark that were given a Cohiba band (obviously fake) so that they could be sold to some unsuspecting tourist at $20.00 a shot.

Well, who cares how much Cuban tobacco is in the fakes? It takes an awful lot of proper growing, fertilizing, aging, curing, etc, etc., of tobacco to make it into something you'll want to smoke. Whether there is leaf from Cuban in there or not is irrelevant.

I've also seen all sorts of shit you definitely do not want to be smoking stuffed inside of fakes, including newspapers, plastic, etc, etc.

good point, often the case- but hardly irrelevant. Some fakes (as i and others suspect) are made from scrap tobacco from big factories. Example- when the cigar is placed in the mold and the foot is cut to shape, theres some really tastey scrap that i could see being hustled out the door and sold. Bam and a terribley rolled, uneven burning, (but REALLY tastey) fake is born

So yes who would care if it was improperly cared for Habano leaf, it would be so tarrey and full of amonia and nicotine your right 'who cares where its from' but theres fakes out there that taste really good and they have short filler in them- so now it does matter where the scrap came from since it professionally looked after

Except that most fakes just use crap farm tobacco that isn't aged/cured properly, and tastes like ass, no matter what country it was grown in.
