Wrapper consistantly splitting

Alright so I have had a problem recently.

I have some cigars in a makeshift tupperdor and every time I take one out and light it up, they end up cracking on me. They are stored alright (the RH might be off a tiny bit but not too much).

Could the fact that I smoke them outside (take them from the warm inside to cold outside and then lighting) be the issue?

The last one that broke came in from being in the cold for 30 min to the warm B&M then split before lighting. :mumbles:

I've had 2 cigars ruined for me now and it is pissing me off! (gah why oh why does IL temperature get so much colder then San Diego's?)

Sounds like the temperature swing is affecting them. What RH are they being stored? Too much humidity can also cause wrapper splitting.

Sounds like they are splitting because of the large temperature/humidity shift.

I am in the same boat as you are.. I was having a Don Pepin last night.. I thought the quality was good, I did notice when i got down to the last half of the smoke I could hear the wrapper crackling and craking.. I am not blaming it on the cigar, I am blaming it on my wife(hope she cant read this). Since she makes me go out in the garage to have a cigar.. I think that is all it is..

Sure sounds like a climate change issue. Hell, that change will cause my allergys to act up at times, so I'm sure it effects a cigar.

yep....I agree with the above...and I was also told to never smoke cameroon cigars in the winter because of that very problem...the wrapper is sensitive.

Funny...I was just thinking the same thing! Of all the wrappers these seem the most sensitive.

I think it is because of the cold too. If i have to go out side i put them in a cigar holder that has been left open in a warm place, then they go inside my jacket to stay warm. When i get to my truck they still stay inside my jacket until it warms up.

I had the same problem last night. I took one outside, and the wrapper split. I thought it was the sudden temperature change.

Never give up!Where there is a will there is a way.I know Cammies are sensitive to cold but when I first started smoking and didn't know better I put my cigars in the fridge and they didn't split
