Last night's Ghurka Fuerte

Mini-review:

Annoying burn problem in the final third--almost a canoe. Other than that, perfect burn.

Draw was perfect for the first 2/3, then very tight.

Flavors detected: Field grass, cedar, oak, Italian herbs, pizza crust. Also something like fresh-cut tree, if you have ever cut trees, it was a taste like that smell of fresh-cut green wood.

Flavor was leaning toward salty and sweet for the first inch or so, then absolutely balanced for the rest of the smoke.

As far as aroma, I did not pay much attention to the aroma, but there were a couple moments when I thought it smelled just like hardwood logs burning in a fireplace.

Overall mild bodied. Subtle but complex. Creamy smooth.

Sounds like you smoked a saw dust pizza! I have never heard of a pizza flavor in a cigar. Thanks for the review Andy.

Thanks for the review Andy. This is one of my favorite Gurkhas in the torpedo grande size though. I haven't experienced all of those flavors that you describe, but it does provide plenty of flavor and if there are no construction problems such as tunneling, peeling wrappers etc....this is one tough cigar to beat IMHO! Have about 5 or 6 percolating in the humi. I live in western NY and will wait for a nice summer's eve to smoke that big kahuna!

Yeah, it's one of my regular rotation smokes and I've never noticed those flavors. My only problem with them are the thin wrappers and some splitting issues. But I love the smoke and flavors it produces.

I might have extra-sensitive taste buds.

I remember one time smoking a Partagas Black, I tasted what an oil refinery smells like. It wasn't offensive. Just reminded me of being downwind from a refinery.

Sometimes I taste seafood in cigars. Like scallops.
