Lightbulb <Comments on today's Stogie picks (12/11/07>

I am posting a pic of the stogies I picked up today. Being a bit new I have not smoked any of these before. I'm gonna get the comments 'moke the cigars and report back. If anyone sees a pattern or has recommendations please let a newbie brother know.

Thanks,

iNDi77

If you can make these out and gotta something to say, my thanks.

I agree with Steve on your picks. Just curious, what made you pick these particular sticks?

I picked these out based on price and I threw in a few just to try. I read the Puro Indios are reasonably priced and a decent smoke, this was also the case with the Henry Clay (read something favorable. The Punch Champion is a friend of mines smoke of choice so I thpugh I give it a try. The A. Fuente's because I have not had one yet that didn't deliver. The Onyx received a great rating and is a stick under $5. The Partagas and the othe maduro torpedo are more my style and just looked like good smokes. I appreciate the question and look forward to the time when I have statements to make instead of questions to ask. Appreciate the comments guys...

Cool stuff N.D.! I was just curious as to your choices, as they look remarkably similar to my own when I first went out and bought a bunch of cigars. Similar reasons too. I am sure you will enjoy the journey...

good selection there. the Punch Champion is a favorite of mine. I don't really like the Puros Indios but a lot of people do.

Can't wait to see what you think of them!

Also check out the Newbie to BOTL sampler thread. I don't know if its still going on or not but we used to have a setup where someone new to cigar smoking sends some cash to a respected BOTL on the board and they send them a selection of smokes. Normally the smokes really outweigh the price paid.

Today I smoke my first

ONYX RESERVE

The cigar was well constructed, had a rich, shiny maduro wrapper. The cigar burned evenly and had an open draw. The cigar seemed to come alive after once it warmed up a bit (about a 1/5 th into the smoke). The smoke was pleasant and had good construction, the smoke was pleasant. I will definitely purchase again.

I'm no expert and hopefully in time my reviews will become more precise but I give this one a B+.

Only my humble opinion,

iNDi77

You should download the review sheet from the review section. It really helps you keep track of the smokes and the reviews.

Also, check out bobbyg's cigar science section for the tasting tips, they are really great!
