I can get that at our local "not cheap" grocery store for about $24, so it is certainly not an overly expensive bottle. The Jim Beam Black is really nice too, and is $20 at the same place. If I could find a better source, both these should be considerably cheaper.

The Casa Torano is a nice cigar and is a little out of favor because of the focus on the new Casa Torano Maduro. I got these at just $13/5 pack. Can't go wrong at $2.60 a stick.
Have not seen Eagle Rare in NJ. Must be why its rare! Always looking to try it so might have to ask my buddy that runs a club if one of his distributors carries it.

The Eagle Rare is a big favorite of mine and I was very impressed with the JB Black for the same reason you mentioned. Sounds like the makings of some nice pairings. Enjoy!

I noticed it at the store the other day. I have only ever had one rye whiskey, and that is that Templeton. There are a few other ones I have heard about...ER DOC says he has found a good one.

Ha! Yeah, the Knob Creek at $24 is the Sam's Club Special. They also have some low prices on a few other tasty selections.

John, don't know if you have "BevMo's" where you live, but they have a great selection of Rye's.That's where I found the Jim Beam straight Rye [yellow label]. If not, from the list of places you had,I'm sure someplace in your area has it.

I just got back from Bevmo. Picked up a bottle of Eagle Rare, Macallan 12, and the anejo patron tequila.

Nice pickups! And remember to always say "THE Macallan". You must sound a little snobby when you say it.

Yes, there are several higher end choices. I think there is even The Macallan 20 or 25. Those can get a wee bit pricey! The longer it sits on oak, the more that is lost due to evaporation (the Angel's share). Hence, it gets more and more expensive and rare. The best I have ever bought is probably the Glenlivet 18, which I found for about $50 or so. Seriously though, I couldn't tell the difference between 12 and 18 year old scotch. You might be able to, but not this working schmoe.

I doubt I'd be able to tell the difference at this point either. I'm just getting into the "finer" drinks.

"Angel's share"...... By the way...I'm holding you responsible for all my future money I spend on these various bottles of alcohol.ibble:
