I don't have to, I am in a massive policy covering over 15,000 electricians. Hell, I never even had to fill out paperwork for my policy other then adress and dependents.

The questions I see say, "do you smoke cigarettes" So I mark no. I smoke cigars. Now if it was a general question, then I would have to mark yes.

Sam you are right, they just want to raise the cost of the premium. I wish there was good research to show people that 100% tobacco is not as bad as something with chemicals. Hard to believe that stuff grown on the earth is that bad for you.

I just did a huge life insurance buy up at work, and they sent a detailed form where I said I smoked cigars, then they came to give me a physical and I said it again. No problems, no higher rate or anything. Our health insurance does not ask questions like that and our rates are fixed, so I'm not sure about that.

Cool

I don't inhale so I don't smoke -- I puff.

Remember the key word "Smoking"-they don't care if your smoking banana peels----that will be questions the attorneys will ask at time of your claim if need be---Better Safe than Sorry!:baffled:

I'm one of the lucky (apparently few) who have never been asked. I didn't have to answer such a question while working (health or life insurance). My retiree insurance didn't ask. I have no need for life insurance (beyond what my health policy pays at death). And, as far as I know, they don't ask when it comes to Medicare.

Someone else asked how they would know. There are sophisticated blood tests that can detect miniscule amounts of nicotine in your blood. They'll do a blood test if they need to know.

My uncle Carlos never smoked and he had emphysema.

Weight and lifestyle have much more to do with mortality than tobacco use. I will lose weight and exercise before I would give up cigars.
