Color rubbing off?

Right now I'm sitting outside, enjoying an Indian Tabac Super Fuerte maduro robusto, and I gotta say, it's amazing. I can finally understand when people say they taste hints of chocolate from cigars. But while I was correcting some burn issues (probably just need to humidify a bit more from shipping), I noticed that when I was rubbing some saliva to slow some burning, some brown color was rubbing off onto my finger, and that's not something I recall ever happening with any other cigars. Is this normal?

Were you rubbing close to the burn line? And was the colour slightly oily?

The Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Corona Maduro is one of my favorite smokes. It has that slight hint of chocolate you are talking about. When you do a pre-light draw it tastes like you are about to smoke a chocolate bar. ibble:

The last one I smoked did leave a slight brown coloration on my finger tip. The finger got wet moving the ashtray, which had water underneath it from sitting outside in the rain. I also though that it was odd for some 'color' to come off on my wet finger.

That being said, I don't care if all the color comes off because they taste so darn good!

I was slightly concerned with specifically the robusto maduro, as it seems to be only available over cigarbid. I did some searches and a maduro version in the robusto size doesn't seem to be sold anywhere else, nor even mentioned, but if it's happened with other sizes, then I guess it's fine.

I was rubbing near the burn line at first, but when I noticed the color coming off, I tried rubbing near the head and the same color was coming off, but the wrapper itself never seemed to lose any of its color, so I guess it's not really a problem.

cybervee: wow, what an awesome cigar, especially for the price. After I nubbed it and put it out, I unwrapped the nub (a weird habit I picked up, I like to see what's left and what was inside), and it put off this amazing chocolate-y smell, and the pre-light draw DID have so much chocolate taste to it, I couldn't stop puffing on it. I was going to go outside to smoke it but I ended up staying inside for around 40 minutes doing other stuff and puffing on the unlit cigar. Wooow.

Some cheaply manufactured maduro cigars are dyed to produce the dark color. However I don't think this is the case. Based on your post, it sounds like you picked up some of the oils coming to the surface as the tobacco was being heated.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I have had this happen to me on a number of occasions. Every time the cigar was a real oily maduro.

I agree with Tekeeladude. I think some of the oils where coming out as the cigar heated up. I experienced this with a maduro i was smoking. When I sat my cigar in the ashtray, where the burn line was touching the ashtray, it would leave an oily residue (thats the best way I can describe it) But thats just my opinion

I found the Super Fuerte Maduro line 'by accident' on the devil site (cigarbid). With only a $9 bid to win a 5 pack I didn't expect too much. Man, was I wrong. This line has some of the tastiest sticks around. It was added to my normal rotation after the first couple draws. Can't beat them for the price!

Just one a 5er for $7. I'll see if the color thing happens to me. I know this did happen with the R4 maduro by Rocky Patel.

Why do you say it was a crappy counterfeit?

Well, I was slightly concerned about the robusto maduro, since it doesn't seem to be sold anywhere, and was thinking that someone might've sold some dyed fake Indian Tabacs to CigarsInternational, who was then selling them over cigarbid. But they're not dyed, and they tasted great, so I guess they're not countefeits.

And now that I think about it, why would people make counterfeits of such cheap smokes?

I dont think you got counterfeit smokes. From what I gather CI sell alot of cigars that are exclusive to them. It sounds like a great oily maduro

If you like an inexpensive, tasty maduro I suggest trying out something in the Indian Tabac Super Furte line. IMHO they are the best stick under $3 (on cigarbid, not at your B&M) you will find.
