Question OpusX / Anejo Pricing?

What are the "exact prices" Authorized Fuente dealers are supposed to charge for each cigar of the "OpusX and Anejo" lines. I know most shops/dealers have a HUGE inflated mark-up. Just wondering if you BOTL could help me out on this one? Thax, David

Cool

Thanks Rob. I have another Question. I have gone to a few shops and not giving names but they "claim" they are Fuente Authorized dealers and I know they are inflating the hell out of the Anejo and OpusX lines. They were selling Oppie A's for $45/stick among others? Can they get in trouble from "Fuente" by pimping their sticks????

Hi Smokenj
I think there is a link on the Fuente site that is used to report abuse in priceing in regards to Opus x. I saw it a few months back -
What it boils down to is - supply and demand. The last box of Anejo #77 shards cost me $375 - the one before cost me $300 + 9.2% tax. I know it was a lot of coin - but I was still happy to be able to get a box.

I had a shop here try to do that once. I had a lot of smokes I was buying, probably about $100 worth, and I saw a single Opus A. I wanted it so I asked the price. I almost fell down when he said $200. I asked why so much and he ranted about supply and demand and how they aren't made anymore lol. I politely sat the sticks on the counter and walked out. Never been back. And it's actually a great wine store, too bad a few wine drinker friends of mine found out about this. None of us have ever been back. Trying to make that extra $175 on the Opus has cost him well over $500 in wine revenue over the last 6 months alone.

On Saturday , I passed by a new B&M that had opened about a month ago.
As I was leaving i noticed a cabinet where they had higher end sticks ( graycliffs, padron 80, etc.) ...they had the opus x ( no anejos) for $30.00
the padron 80th was at $26 ( if i remember correctly) ..i guess i have to keep looking

I wonder if reporting actually does anything? I've talked to Josh Fuente at Tampa Sweethearts about gouging in Orlando without saying the shop. Then he asked me if I was talking about Corona and their $25 Anejos. So, it seems like they already know about it but if they are a good customer nothing really happens. Carlito has also been to Corona so I'm sure he's seen the prices too. Thank God I can go to TS and get them at retail otherwise I wouldn't buy them.

First post from blackberry so here we go. Thanks for the post. Only had one opus bellicoso and loved but man I can't afford the mark ups either. Is there a secret to getting these for decent price or do I just need to suck it up for 25 a stick? Thanks guys.

Don't pay the crazy prices. They can be had for close to MSRP, you just have to find them. I love the Opus X and Hemmingway Maduros so I've searched through the whole town to find the best deals.

WOW! $13? Thats a deal I guess. The B&M I go to sells them for 40 bucks a cigar when they have them. It sucks!

Alan, is that $13 for a Robusto or $13 for the Opus X A?

Keep in mind that there are a lot of stores that do not get opus X and will buy them from other retailers and then mark up from that cost.

In Texas, Opus X starts around $10 for the Power Ranger. The bigger sticks, Rerserva Chateau and Double Corona's are around $18 to $20 a stick and the A is $30 to $35 a stick.

The extreme sizes that you see in the 22 gift set, BBMF can start around $38 to $45 a stick.

Understandable Brian, but Question is :are "Fuente Authorized Dealers allowed to inflate Fuente products or do they need permission". I would think Fuente reps would/should "pull their products" from the Authorized dealers stores. That's just me. David
