TDS check for visible solids....TDS = Total dissolved solids....it does detect a lot of minerals but the only way to get really pure water is to get distilled....Once it is boiled off there is no way for any minerals to get entrained in the steam since it does not have a strong molecular bond. Once it is condensed again in a sterile pot it will have 0 minerals....that is why they say to use it for baby formula.
The grocery stores sell a gallon for less than $1 and it lasts a long time.......I would hesitate using a RO/DI system because it is all water going through the system and no phase change. It does a good job of cleaning the water up but it is not 100% full proof, but distilled water is. |
